Fabrizio Romano has seemed to hint that Darwin Nunez and his transfer to Napoli could accelerate.

Liverpool fans have largely come to terms with the prospect of Darwin Nunez departing Anfield this summer, with the Uruguayan striker edging closer to the exit door.

The club’s stance is unambiguous: Liverpool have slapped a £70 million price tag on Nunez, a figure that mirrors the offer they rebuffed from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr back in January.

Despite a challenging season and a dip in form, the Reds remain resolute in their valuation and are unwilling to budge.

Nunez’s influence under Arne Slot waned considerably, with the forward netting just seven times in 47 appearances across all competitions during the 2024-25 campaign.

After making his final start for Liverpool in March 2025, the Uruguayan found himself increasingly sidelined as Slot opted for Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota in central attacking roles.

With a tally of 40 goals in 122 games since his 2022 arrival, Nunez’s Liverpool chapter appears to be drawing to a close, as the club and supporters alike brace for a significant summer change up front.

In a series of X posts, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Victor Osimhen wants to complete his move to Galatasaray as soon as possible.

As a result, Napoli will net €75m for the Nigerian:

Victor Osimhen has informed Napoli of his desire to get deal sealed with Galatasaray ASAP,” the Italian transfer guru reported.

“Galatasaray will pay €75m as release clause value — but negotiating payment terms in 5 years as exclusively revealed.”

“Contract ready since Sunday; until June 2028 plus option.”

Galatasaray delegation with George Gardi and vice president Abdullah Kavukcu, set to push again with Napoli today with direct talks in Italy.”

Payment terms to be agreed as final step to complete Victor Osimhen deal for his comeback, as revealed.

Romano adds that the Uruguayan striker is giving his “total priority”” to Napoli at this stage, and that the Naples side will switch all their focus to Darwin Nunez after offloading Osimhen:

“After selling Osimhen, Napoli are set for new round of talks for Darwin Nunez as Uruguayan striker remains the main, dream target,” he said.

“As revealed two weeks ago, Darwin wants Napoli and he’s open to the move.”

“Understand he’s giving total priority to Napoli at this stage.”
