Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on Ibrahima Konate’s new contract at Liverpool.
The Reds are working on securing a new contract for Ibrahima Konate.
They are still in negotiations with the French defender following the confirmation of Mohamed Salah’s new deal on Friday.
Liverpool have been working on getting Van Dijk, Mo Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold to sign contract extensions at Anfield in recent months.
However, seeing the highly valued 25-year-old Frenchman put pen to paper on a new deal is high on the club’s agenda.

Ibrahima Konate has been important for Liverpool this season at the heart of their defence alongside Van Dijk, and the defender is entering into his final season with his contract to run out in 2026.
Although Liverpool’s priority has been finalizing new deals for Salah and Van Dijk, Fabrizio Romano has hinted that the next in line could be the French defender.
AnythingLFC reports on X, according to Fabrizio, “Liverpool maintain their confidence in Konate contract negotiations and they remain in talks with the Frenchman.”
According to reports, Konate and his agents are seeking a substantial increase in the player’s wages.
He currently earns about £80,000 per week and is seeking for an increase of a better deal of up to £200,000.
For Salah and Van Dijk’s new contracts, Liverpool wanted a reduction in both of their wages because of their ages but both players were not asking for increments, and only wanted to remain on their current salaries.
Konate joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 and signed a five-year contract that looks set to run out in June 2026.
