This has led to the futures of some bit-part players to be even more uncertain, with the Italian Federico Chiesa being one of them.
The winger featured just six times in the league last season, playing just over 100 minutes, hence the reason why he has been so heavily tipped to leave.
Napoli were interested in both Chiesa and Darwin Nunez, and it looked as if the pair would join the Italian side at one point, perhaps even as part of a swap deal for Victor Osimhen.
However, the 27-year-old might still just have a future at Anfield and after Napoli’s latest transfer decision, giving it one last shot might not be a bad idea.

The Serie A champions are eager to reinforce their squad this summer to ensure they stay at the pinnacle of Italian football, although they do not have the biggest budget to spend.
Liverpool’s £51m asking price for Nunez appears too high and they seem to have moved on to other targets, with the same now being said for Chiesa.

Although this does not completely rule out a Chiesa exit this summer, it certainly narrows down his options and could tempt him to stick around for next season.
This could be good news for Liverpool as it is safe to say that when he has been given a chance, albeit not often at all, he has shown flashes of brilliance, with his goal in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle an example of that.
The Reds also had a reason why they signed him in the first place and clearly believe there is a player in there somewhere, with perhaps a second season being the way to get this out of him.
It is an unwritten rule in football but two seasons is about right to gauge whether a player will be successful or not, with it being unfair to rule Chiesa out after just one.
Many players under Pep Guardiola famously get better under the Spaniard after two seasons, as most just need time to settle in and adjust to his demands.
This can be applied to most managers and Arne Slot will be no different, with Chiesa now having an existing knowledge of what his manager will now demand from him.
It would be no surprise to see him enter pre-season and hit the ground running, with his chances of minutes potentially increasing massively if they sell the likes of Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz and Nunez.
