Fabrizio Romano has confirmed who could be out of Anfield door’s after Luis Diaz
Liverpool have agreed to sell the 28-year-old to Bayern Munich for €75 million (£65.6 million), bringing an end to the Colombian winger’s three-and-a-half-year spell at Anfield.
The 28-year-old, who joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for £37.5 million, made 148 appearances for the Reds, scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists across all competitions.
Diaz had been pushing for a move since 2024, initially expressing interest when Barcelona came calling, but Liverpool held firm.
Contract extension talks broke down twice due to significant gaps between the player’s wage demands and Liverpool’s offers.
Bayern’s initial bid of €67.5 million was rejected, but their improved offer proved irresistible.
The winger was excluded from Liverpool’s pre-season friendlies against Preston, Stoke, and AC Milan due to ongoing transfer speculation, with manager Arne Slot confirming the situation.
Despite traveling with the squad to Japan, Díaz has now been granted permission to leave the tour to complete his medical in Munich.
And despite this, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the expectation still remains for Federico Chiesa to also move on this summer.
Taking to X on Monday morning, the Italian transfer guru reported:
“Even after Luis Diaz’s sale, Federico Chiesa’s plan remains to leave Liverpool as he wants to play more?
Serie A, still his favourite destination.”
Brought in from Juventus for an initial £10million fee, plus £2.5million in add-ons, ahead of the 2024–25 campaign, Chiesa featured only 14 times – starting on just four occasions – under Arne Slot but still earned a Premier League winners’ medal.
His lack of opportunities under Slot has naturally fuelled rumours departure, with AC Milan, Napoli, and the prospect of a Juventus return all mentioned as possible next steps.
The situation at Anfield prompted Italy’s new manager Gennaro Gattuso to tell him he must “play consistently” to earn a national team recall, adding further pressure for a move.
