Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez amid interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Nunez scored his fifth goal for the Reds in pre-season as the Premier League champions defeated Athletic Club 4-1 in the first of their two pre-season meetings on Monday.
The 26-year-old put the Reds two goals up inside five minutes at Anfield.
Nunez joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 in a deal worth up to £85m after add-ons.
He racked up 47 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring seven goals, but started just eight times in the Premier League as Arne Slot’s side clinched their 20th league title.
Liverpool have bolstered their attacking options this summer with the signing of Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Selling Nunez would financially help Liverpool’s efforts to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this window.
The Saudi Pro League is emerging as a possible destination for Nunez this summer, with Al-Hilal keen on signing him.
It is believed that a potential move to the Middle East for the Uruguay international has been explored this transfer window with intermediaries actively working on trying to broker a deal.
AC Milan have also expressed interest in signing Nunez, although it is unlikely the Serie A club can match the financial package that Al Hilal may offer.
Earlier, another Saudi Arabian club, Al Nassr, showed interest in Darwin Nunez during the January transfer window.
However, Al Hilal only received details of the deal conditions after contacting Liverpool in June.
According to Romano, Al Hilal are in talks with Nunez’s camp over personal terms.
