Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has delivered encouraging news regarding Arne Slot’s potential move to Liverpool this summer.
Slot has emerged as a frontrunner in the Reds’ quest for a successor to Jurgen Klopp.
He boasts an impressive track record, including reaching the Europa Conference League final in 2022 and clinching their first Eredivisie title in six years last season, having been at Feyenoord for three seasons.
Currently, Feyenoord sit second in the league table and recently secured the Dutch Cup over the weekend.
Reports suggest that Slot aligns closely with the criteria outlined by the Anfield hierarchy in their search for Klopp’s replacement.
The process, spearheaded by Fenway Sports Group’s chief executive of football, Michael Edwards has identified Slot as a strong candidate for the role.
Providing more positive news on Slot, Fabrizio Romano posted on X: “One more direct contact will take place soon between Arne Slot and Liverpool board to discuss more key points of the project?
“Slot, keen on Liverpool job and concrete option as he’s highly rated by #LFC.”
Despite being under contract until 2026, having inked a fresh deal last summer, the 45-year-old finds himself at the center of attention as Liverpool eye him for the managerial role.
Feyenoord, eager to retain his services are keen on keeping him at the club.
However, there are indications that Slot is prepared to progress to the next stage in his managerial journey.
Feyenoord reportedly cancelled their regular press conference scheduled for Wednesday ahead of their game against Go Ahead Eagles, fueling speculation surrounding Slot’s potential departure.
Liverpool could encounter competition from several other clubs vying for Arne Slot’s services, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona reportedly impressed by his achievements at Feyenoord.
Slot’s managerial prowess has garnered attention beyond Liverpool as evidenced by previous interest from Premier League clubs.
Both Tottenham and Chelsea were rumoured to have considered him before ultimately appointing Ange Postecoglou and Mauricio Pochettino respectively last summer.
