Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Liverpool and their transfer plans in the summer transfer window, with a particular focus on Barcelona man Pedri.
A period of transition awaits Anfield at the end of the season.
Jurgen Klopp will be departing, but many of his loyal staff who have served Liverpool well will also follow suit.
Assistant managers Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, along with elite development coach Victor Matos, will accompany Klopp on the way out.
Head of recovery and performance Andreas Schlumberger will also leave in the summer.
Goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, who has dedicated 15 years to Liverpool, will step down after the season and wrote an emotional farewell letter to the club.
There will also be changes on the player front?
Adrian, Thiago, and Joel Matip are expected to leave when their contracts expire this summer.
Meanwhile, Michael Edwards and his team face a challenge in renewing the contracts of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah, all of whom have deals expiring in the next 18 months.
Liverpool will undoubtedly seek to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
As a result, there has been plenty of players linked to Liverpool ahead of the summer.
There has already been suggestions that Arne Slot could bring Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida to Anfield next season.
But one of the more outlandish suggestions have been made by Marca, who claimed that Liverpool were ‘leading the race’ for Barcelona’s Pedri.
What did Fabrizio Romano say about Pedri?
Writing in his Daily Briefing, the Italian transfer predictably quashed any notion that the Reds were in for Pedri:
“Despite what has been reported elsewhere, I can guarantee that there is nothing between Pedri and Liverpool, or between Liverpool and Barcelona for Pedri”
“The situation is completely quiet.”
“Pedri is really happy and always super committed to Barcelona, and he’s a crucial part of the project at the Nou Camp.”
Pedri emerged as a key player for Barcelona over the last four years, gaining significant recognition after winning the Golden Boy award in 2021 at just 18 years old, an impressive accomplishment for any footballer.
However, since then, the youngster has really struggled to kick on and has been suffering with injuries in a stop-start manner.
His price is also not what Liverpool seek, with Pedri no doubt costing more than the £60 million Dominik Szoboszlai was bought for.
