Fabrizio Romano has confirmed his prior reporting on Liverpool FC this Monday.
Liverpool’s summer spending spree so far means that other players will have to off-loaded to keep the squad trimmed.
July is anticipated re see a shift in focus from signings to strategic departures to rebalance the roster and free up wage and squad slots.
At the forefront is Darwin Nunez, who has reportedly given Napoli the green light to negotiate with Liverpool.
Harvey Elliott, fresh from earning Player of the Tournament at the U21 Euros, is expected to explore his options amid limited starts under Slot, with clubs such as RB Leipzig and Aston Villa ready to pounce on his £40 million + valuation.
Midfielder Tyler Morton is also poised to depart, as Braga prepare to step up their interest alongside Ajax and West Ham, offering regular Europa League football after his shoulder surgery–hit season.
Meanwhile, Andy Robertson’s future remains in flux after Atlético Madrid cooled their pursuit following Liverpool’s signing of Milos Kerkez, leaving the 31-year-old to weigh his next move.
Now Fabrizio Romano has reasserted that Federico Chiesa is strongly expected to leave Anfield this summer, and has doubled-down on his stance that the Italian will return to Serie A:
“According to my information, he wants to go back to Italy,” the transfer journalist said to CaughtOffside.
“He wants to leave Liverpool, not because he has any problem – he loves the club, he loves his teammates and all the people at the club – but the problem is that Chiesa is not playing on a regular basis.
“He wants to go, he wants to play, he also wants to be back with the Italian national team, so playing regularly for his club will be crucial.”
“Chiesa is going, but let’s just see which club will be able to reach an agreement with Liverpool?
There is some interest from Italy, especially from Napoli also in this case.”
Chiesa managed only 14 appearances – starting four times – under Arne Slot despite collecting a Premier League winners’ medal.
It would probably make sense for all parties at this stage, especially for Chiesa who no doubts harbors hopes of making the Italy national team for next year’s World Cup in the USA.
