The transfer window may be shut but Liverpool are still working on getting deals over the line.
The Reds may not have been linked with a whole host of players like they usually are in the transfer window, but the few they do want look likely to join.
Florian Wirtz to Liverpool is the story of the summer so far and appears to be a longer transfer saga than many associated with the club would have hoped.
However, after getting the ‘here we go’ confirmation from Fabrizio Romano, fans on the red half of Merseyside may feel a bit more relaxed about the situation.
Rumours that the deal is still not yet complete are doing the rounds on social media, but the Italian journalist’s response to these claims suggests that he is confident that his sources are correct.

Of course, journalists have different sources and some are more reliable than others, hence the reason why there are many different variations of the same story.
David Ornstein is one that has a differing view to Romano and claims that an agreement has not yet been reached, with one fan replying on X by saying: “Fab has just been ruled off for offside.”
However, Romano hit back with a perfect response by putting: “I’ll be back when it’s gonna be VAR time then,” followed by a smiling emoji.

The fact he is able to be so unserious about the matter suggests that he is very confident that a deal has, in fact, been reached and Wirtz will be a Liverpool player very soon.
This has always been the expectation and the two clubs were confident over agreeing a deal for Wirtz, meaning Reds fans might be able to relax a little more now.
Once Wirtz officially becomes a Liverpool player, their next port of call is to get the Milos Kerkez deal over the line.
Kerkez is reportedly close to joining already and the deal should not prove as big a problem as the Wirtz move did, although Liverpool’s business is not expected to conclude there.
The Reds are still in the market for a striker and Hugo Ekitike is a player linked, while a younger centre-back could also still arrive, with Liverpool interested in Ajax’s Jorrel Hato.
Either way, it will be a very expensive summer for the Premier League champions and, despite a lot of arrivals coming through the door, eyes should also be on the exit as many players are expected to depart Anfield.
