Liverpool’s summer rebuild remains active, but hopes of landing Real Madrid’s Rodrygo hinge entirely on the player’s personal decision.
With Luis Diaz likely to depart, the Reds have identified the Brazilian as a top-tier replacement.
Rodrygo’s ability to operate across the front line makes him a dream fit for Arne Slot’s evolving tactical system.
Despite mounting interest, including from Paris Saint-Germain, the player has yet to signal a firm stance.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and other suitors must wait until the winger returns from holiday and communicates his intentions.
Until then, negotiations cannot progress.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the current delay comes directly from Rodrygo himself.
The 24-year-old is on holiday and has not yet informed Real Madrid of any desire to leave the Bernabeu.
While his representatives have already met with Madrid officials, the club won’t act until the player gives the green light.
“Real Madrid confirmed that they are open to letting Rodrygo go.”
Romano stated, “This is because this [transfer] has to start from Rodrygo.
It is Rodrygo who must go to Madrid and say ‘okay I want to go, give me the final price and then we’ll bring offers’”.
Romano clarified that there are no advanced negotiations on either the club or player side.
The transfer saga depends entirely on whether Rodrygo chooses to seek a new challenge or fight for his place under Xabi Alonso.
Liverpool, PSG and others remain on standby, with Madrid expected to demand at least €100 million if the deal moves forward.
