Liverpool supporters are bracing for what could be the defining stretch of Darwin Nunez’s Anfield career.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Napoli are ready to accelerate their pursuit of the Uruguayan striker once Victor Osimhen completes his move away.

After a turbulent season that saw Nunez fall down Arne Slot’s pecking order, the 26-year-old appears open to a fresh start in Serie A.

Liverpool remain firm on their £70 million asking price, an amount they refused from Al-Nassr back in January.

Napoli see Nunez as their main target to replace Osimhen, whose €75 million switch to Galatasaray is now close.

With payment terms the final obstacle, Napoli are expected to shift all focus onto Nunez once that sale goes through.

Fabrizio Romano explained that Nunez is giving his “total priority” to Napoli at this stage.

The striker has reportedly informed his representatives he is eager for the move.

While Liverpool will not lower their valuation, Napoli’s determination and Nunez’s willingness could speed up negotiations.

Nunez, who scored 40 goals in 122 appearances for the Reds, last started a game in March.

Despite his struggles for consistency, Napoli see him as a dream signing to lead their next era up front.

Liverpool are expected to hold firm, but with Osimhen almost out the door, a new round of talks is imminent and it may finally bring clarity to Nunez’s future.
