The Reds have a new-look team as they play some friendlies in Asia, with their first coming against AC Milan in a game they lost 4-2.

Arne Slot got to try plenty of different players in many different positions during the game, suggesting that there is a lot more than just the result to take from it.

Youngsters got the chance to try and impress the boss, with some managing to do just that, with Rio Ngumoha in particular shining yet again in the 45 minutes he received.

However, there is one player that would have been very keen to impress but Slot made a big decision that suggests he has no interest in playing him next season.

Substitutions are aplenty during pre-season and almost everyone will get some minutes on the pitch, although some got more than others.

Usually, 22 players are used as each get a half each, however this was not the case as Slot decided to give Tyler Morton just 30 minutes to show what he was made of.

The 22-year-old, largely, played well, but a few loose passes were perhaps the main reason why he was hooked so early.

Morton struggled with the tempo of the game too, with Slot even moving Ryan Gravenberch into his position in the second half despite the Dutchman already playing 45 minutes at centre-back.

Slot did, eventually, bring Morton back on and swapped him out for Gravenberch, but likely only because he needed a rest, as well as the Reds already being 3-1 down at that point.

As results do not matter all that much in pre-season, keeping the Englishman on would have made more sense and certainly not created a headline, but his decision suggests he will not be at the club come the new season.

Like many of Liverpool’s stars, Morton is not short of suitors and after an impressive performance at the Under 21 European Championships, many have remained interested.

The midfielder, who was once called “fantastic”, is highly rated at West Ham and they are keen to bring him to the London Stadium, and the same can be said for Harvey Elliott.

Liverpool want £55m to sell them both, suggesting that Morton would be around £10m-£15m by himself, a decent fee for a player of his quality.

Of course, there is still a chance he remains at Anfield, but as he wants more game time, something Slot appears to not want to give him, a move away might be best.
