It’s been a challenging year for Federico Chiesa, Liverpool’s sole signing from the 2024 summer transfer window.
Following the departure of long-serving manager Jurgen Klopp, many expected a busy summer at Anfield, with new boss Arne Slot expected to put his own stamp on the squad he inherited.
Instead, it was a quiet window, with Chiesa the only new arrival at the AXA Training Centre.
Signed from Serie A giants Juventus for £12.5 million, Chiesa has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular under Slot.
The 27-year-old has made just 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice.

The lack of minutes has led to widespread speculation about Chiesa’s future, with rumours of a return to Italy first emerging in January.
Although a move didn’t materialise at the time, those links have resurfaced ahead of the summer transfer window.
With that in mind, Echo Sport brings you a round-up of the latest on Chiesa and his future.
The Liverpool boss has offered fresh insight into Chiesa’s struggles this season during his press conference on Friday, ahead of the team’s Premier League clash with Brighton.
The outlet claims that the Serie A leaders are keen to push forward with a deal, ideally structured as a loan with an option-to-buy, although Liverpool are said to prefer an obligation-to-buy.
The report also suggests that Chiesa is enthusiastic about the prospect of returning to Italy this summer, with hopes of re-establishing himself in the national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup, should they qualify.
It also states that Napoli would have no issues meeting the winger’s wage demands.

Despite the widespread speculation in recent weeks linking Chiesa with a return to Serie A, specifically with Napoli, fresh reports from Italy have cast doubt on those claims.
According to journalist Ciro Venerato, as reported by CalcioNapoli24, the player's agent is unaware of any renewed interest from the Naples-based club.
"On Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa only denials," the journalist said.
