Federico Chiesa’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, with speculation mounting over a possible departure this transfer window.
He moved to Anfield last year from Juventus, becoming the only permanent senior signing made during Arne Slot’s debut season.
However, Chiesa’s first campaign in England was disrupted by injuries and limited playing time.
This summer, rumours have linked Chiesa with a return to Italy, especially with the arrival of new attacking talents Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike at Liverpool.
Head coach Arne Slot earlier hinted that Chiesa is likely to remain at the club this window.
When asked about his attacking options last week, Slot was careful to include the Italian winger among his plans.
“I think we have a lot of attacking power in our team,” said Slot in his pre-Community Shield press conference.
“When I think about Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, Hugo Ekitike, Mo Salah, Jeremie Frimpong who can play as a right-winger, Florian Wirtz who can play as a left-winger.
“I already feel I have a lot of attacking options in my current squad.
“But, as always as a club, we are always looking at the chances in the market but that can also be in the midfield or the last line.”
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Federico Chiesa has spoken directly with Arne Slot, and his agent, Fali Ramadani, has met with Liverpool’s management.
Both made it clear that Federico is needed as the Premier League champions are yet to sign a replacement for Luis Diaz who joined Bayern Munich last month.
Chiesa racked up 14 appearances, scored two goals, and provided two assists for Liverpool across all competitions last season as the Reds won the Premier League title.
