Federico Chiesa has spoken openly about how he sees his future at Liverpool and the chances of a transfer exit this summer.

The 27-year-old’s move from Juventus to Liverpool in 2024 for £12.5 million was expected to revitalize his career, but the Italian winger has struggled for meaningful minutes at Anfield.

After being frozen out at Juventus and missing pre-season training, Chiesa required a personalized fitness program upon arriving at Liverpool, which significantly delayed his integration into Arne Slot’s squad

The statistics paint a stark picture of his limited involvement.

Chiesa made only six Premier League appearances throughout the 2024-25 season, accumulating just 104 minutes of playing time in England’s top flight.

Across all competitions, he featured in just 14 matches, starting only four of them.

Arne Slot showed during 2024/25 that he was not a manager that chopped and changed his line-up, and some of Liverpool’s more fringe players suffered as a result.

As a result, the winger has been asked by outlets in his native Italy about his future.

One of those are Gazzetta Dello Sport, who sat down with Chiesa for a lengthy interview on his future and his feelings after a year with the Reds.

Quizzed on whether he would be open to a move to AC Milan and work with Massimiliano Allegri (his former manager at Juve), Chiesa did not shoot down the proposition:

“That’s something to think about during the summer,” he replied as quoted and translated by Football Italia.

“My family, my agent and I have a great relationship with Liverpool, and the goal is to be ready for the pre-season.

We’ll find the best solution for everyone.”

“I work every day with a Liverpool programme to be in top shape for the tests on July 8.”

While he confirmed the intention was to be fit for Liverpool for pre-season, the Italian said “never say never” when asked whether a return to Juventus is a possibility.

It’s quite a big hint from the Italian.

Chiesa also discussed how his Juve exit came about and that he still has very strong feelings for the Old Lady:

“There had been talks about discussing a new deal after the Euros, but no one ever reached out again,” Chiesa revealed.

“When I returned from vacation and the wedding, I spoke with Thiago Motta, who clearly told me ‘you’re not part of the project, find a new club’.

“But I still feel great affection for Juve and the fans.”

“They were clear from day one.

they let me train with the team for two weeks then Motta didn’t want me anymore.

He then admitted his “deep care” for the Serie A giants”

“I’m a professional, I accepted it and kept training to find another club,” the winger added.

“It was a great disappointment because I deeply care about Juventus and thought I still had a lot to give.”

“I always behaved properly.

While out of the squad, I was able to train in great condition, but I missed playing friendlies.”

“I had to start from scratch at Liverpool and that held me back.”
