Turkish giants Fenerbahce have reportedly failed in their attempt to sign a Liverpool man this summer transfer window.

The Liverpool squad is currently wrapping their Asian tour leg of pre-season with a friendly against Yokohama F.

Marinos scheduled for tomorrow.

But the summer trip to Asia has not been short of players dropping out of the camp.

Centre-back Joe Gomez’s withdrawal had been reported earlier in the week.

The 28-year-old felt discomfort in his Achilles during training at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong and was immediately sent back to the AXA Training Centre for scans.

Luis Diaz left on Tuesday as he completes his Bayern Munich move.

The Colombian winger flew from Tokyo to Munich after Liverpool accepted Bayern’s improved €75 million offer.

Diaz had twice rejected new-deal proposals and pushed for this move since last summer; the switch will become official once he completes a medical in Bavaria

Meanwhile, Alisson had been granted compassionate leave and left the Japan camp today.

The Brazilian No.

1 missed Tuesday’s open session at JFA Dream Field and will re-join the squad only once they return to Merseyside.

While those three departures have dominated the pre-season headlines, eyes are turning to a player who never boarded Liverpool’s charter flight at all: Federico Chiesa.

The Italy international spent last season on the periphery after his cut-price €12 million move from Juventus.

According to Italian outlet Calico Mercato, Chiesa has rejected Jose Mourinho’s approach from Fenerbahçe because he is determined to instead resurrect his career back in Serie A.

Liverpool are equally clear: no loans, no complicated obligations – a straight €15 million fee or nothing.

That stance is attracting Napoli, Milan and Atalanta, although each suitor would need player sales – or Chiesa to trim his current £80-plus-k-a-week wages – before talks advance.

The Athletic have reported that Atalanta could move for Chiesa once they sell Ademola Lookman to Inter Milan.

The winger’s reasoning is two-fold?

First, regular minutes in a tactical environment he knows are essential if he is to force his way into Gattuso’s Italy plans for the 2026 World Cup.

Secondly, he is aware that he could demand big salary if does make the return to Italy.
