Liverpool's first match following the tragic death of Diogo Jota is set to be aired live on TV in the UK, provided it proceeds as planned.

The Reds are due to return to the AXA Training Centre for the commencement of pre-season training on Tuesday, with a fixture against Preston North End at Deepdale scheduled for Sunday July 13.

Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, were tragically killed in the early hours of July 3 in a car accident.

While the Reds are set to resume pre-season training on Tuesday, a decision regarding the proceeding of their first pre-season friendly of the summer is yet to be made.

This decision will only be finalized after consulting with the players and staff who are mourning the loss of a dear friend and teammate.

However, if the match does go ahead, ITV 1 is prepared to broadcast it live on Sunday in the UK

It is emphasized that ITV's broadcast of the match, which has taken on greater significance and public interest, is an unfortunate coincidence.

Liverpool has yet to decide whether to fulfill the fixture, and ITV will respect the Reds' decision

Preston is preparing for the game to go ahead and plans to pay tribute to Jota at Deepdale if the friendly proceeds.

Liverpool had previously decided to delay the start of their pre-season training following the tragic passing of Jota

The initial group of Reds players were originally scheduled to report to the AXA Training Centre on Friday (July 4), with a larger group set to return on Monday (July 7).

However, Arne Slot's team was given additional time off to come to terms with the shocking news of Jota's death, with most players travelling to Portugal for the funeral.

They will now reconvene at the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday to commence their pre-season preparations, before making a decision on whether they will journey to Preston for their first friendly match this weekend.
