Arne Slot’s title-winning Liverpool side looked like the complete package this season, but with the transfer window now open, they will be looking to evolve to the next level.
A 20th league title for Liverpool was backed up with a season of consistency from start to finish.
Arne Slot’s side never really looked in danger of giving up their spot at the top, despite concerning speculative reports around their players heating up.
There was nervousness growing around Anfield after prolonged speculation around star players Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk’s contract situation, but tensions eased after the pair penned deals, allowing the Reds to refocus and get straight back to business.
However, many Liverpool fans’ nightmare was confirmed after the announcement of Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving his boyhood club on a free transfer to join European rivals Real Madrid.
Despite this blow, the Reds will be determined to be in a stronger place than they were coming into the window in preparation for Slot’s first title defence.
With that being said, here are five players Liverpool should look to sign in the summer transfer window.

After Atlético Madrid’s disappointing season, Julian Alvarez was the shining light, grabbing the Player of the Season award for the Spanish side.
Julian Alvarez La Liga stats this season:
As an ex-Manchester City player, he has two seasons’ worth of Premier League experience, with 67 appearances in total.

Alvarez is a World Cup winner with Argentina and certainly knows how to find the back of the net, but it’s his link-up play that makes him the perfect modern-day forward.
With speculation growing around Darwin Nunez’s future at Liverpool, Alvarez would be a smart move should they wish to replace the Uruguayan forward.

Another former Man City star is Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich, who is yet to sign a contract extension with the German giants, and could be available on a free this summer.
Barcelona have reignited their interest in Luis Diaz, and if Liverpool were to lose their Colombian winger, Sane would be a no-brainer replacement on a free transfer.
The German would bring lightning-quick pace to a Liverpool side that is already known for quick transitions and counter-attacks.
After giving defenders nightmares in his previous stint in the Premier League, it shouldn’t take too long for Sane to settle into English football once again and get back to his frightening best.

Should Liverpool fail to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, they should turn their attention to Ajax’s teenage sensation Jorrel Hato.
Hato is a ball-playing left-footed defender who can play either centre-back or left-back, and with the attacking nature of Liverpool’s new defender Jeremie Frimpong, Hato could be the perfect catalyst for balance in the Reds’ defence.
Hato has been linked with a move to Arsenal, and the 19-year-old looks destined for the top, having already racked up six senior appearances for the Netherlands.

After luring Alexander-Arnold away from Anfield, Liverpool could get one back on Real Madrid by signing their former youth prospect, Nico Paz.
Paz played his first full season in professional football this campaign for Serie A side Como, after making a permanent switch from the Bernabeu last summer.
The attacking midfielder has been lighting up Serie A at the age of 20 with his dazzling technical ability, and could be the perfect understudy to Liverpool’s impending signing, Florian Wirtz.

Finally, Khephren Thuram of Juventus should be one that the Reds are all over this summer after his continued development.
Thuram admitted to turning down Liverpool in 2023 as he wanted to stay at his then club, OGC Nice in France, to continue his development in the right way, despite the flattering interest.
It proved the correct decision with the French midfielder’s rise to the top continuing, finishing the season as one of the best players in Italy.
The box-to-box midfielder can do both sides of the game at an elite level, and his physical presence is something that could provide more muscle to an already strong Liverpool side.
