Looking at one of the last fixtures being against Arsenal, the match vs the Gunners should’ve been more intense and had more riding on the line.
Arne Slot’s men have earnt the right for this to not be the case and basically take the next few weeks off.
This isn’t to say Liverpool’s intensity dropped much as they showcased why they are a cut above one of their nearest title challengers.
Arsenal’s final piece in the puzzle is what Liverpool have in abundance a notion to attack defences with a cutting edge.
Fast, skilful wingers with midfielders who can all score goals as opposed to Arsenal’s style of getting into the final third and running out of ideas.
Liverpool raced into a two-goal lead before Arsenal admirably roared back in the second half to make it 2-2.
Though Mikel Merino was sent off in the second half, Liverpool’s couldn’t get a third to put the game beyond doubt and had a goal by Andy Robertson ruled out.
There were still noticeable narratives and things to take away from the game.
Here are five things we learnt from a fun match:
1.
Boos for Trent-Alexander Arnold
Arne Slot spoke of his disappointment of Alexander-Arnold leaving before the match.
Anyone would be disappointed at losing a player as good as the English full-back as he confirmed leaving the club six days ago.
It was still a little surprising to hear quite a few boos for the Liverpool youth product.
Alexander-Arnold’s time at the club has been an overwhelming success, but it’s salient that some fans in the stadium perhaps through anger or sadness booed the player.
The fans pay the tickets and have the power to voice their frustration or joy in the stadium.
It’s clear that with Alexander-Arnold leaving not all fans are prepared to give him a glorious send off.
2.
Conor Bradley Good Again
It’s likely Liverpool will look at replacements for Alexander-Arnold, it was also noticeable to hear Bradley’s song sung when he was removed from the bench and Alexander-Arnold was inserted into the game.
Bradley as a full-back has plenty to offer and is only getting better with more minutes.
From now until the end of the season and Real Madrid wanting to have Alexander-Arnold ready for the Club World Cup, it’s probable we’ll see Slot do some succession planning and see Bradley in the team as much as possible.
3.
Switched off 2nd half
Arsenal looked tired and rusty in the first half but they looked like a team that had been yelled at by Mikel Arteta by the second as they came out fighting with more verve.
Obviously, the fact Liverpool have nothing left to play for helps but credit has to be given to Arsenal for digging deep, coming back and drawing the game as it looked ominous in the first half.
The changes Arteta made in bringing Leandro Trossard on in particular helped swing the game and made the second half a more fun watch, as after the Diaz goal went in on 21 minutes it could’ve gotten embarrassing.

4 Week Title Party Continues
It’s still mind boggling that Liverpool were so good throughout the season they made the title challenge boring.
Ever since confirming the inevitable and beating Tottenham Hotspur on the 27th April, the title has been sewn up and Liverpool and their fans have been able to put their feet up.
In two weeks the season will conclude and Liverpool will deservedly get to lift the trophy in a packed Anfield to joyous fans, something they weren’t able to do in their last title win due to COVID.
The fans, players and staff all deserve it and it’s encouraging from a Liverpool perspective that the mood has been relaxed for weeks.
