Tom Werner has opened up on all things Liverpool.
Fenway Sports Group came into power on Merseyside in 2010 and have led the club to two Premier League titles and the Champions League, as well as several more major honours.
Werner has been the chairman for the entirety of this period, and below are five takeaways from his interview with The Overlap US.
Werner explained how FSG have reviewed their handling of both Liverpool and the baseball franchise the Boston Red Sox and came to a conclusion that resulted in the extensive transfer business at Anfield this summer.
"The fact of the matter is it's going to be very difficult.
"We have been resilient, we have been fortunate.
"The one thing I have learned, and we are relatively humble and modest about this, is we were very enthusiastic about changing the squad because it's very difficult to repeat.
"There was a great intention to bring in new players, obviously to get better.
You need to bring in a new energy and new ideas."
Liverpool thought they would sign Marc Guehi when a £35m deal was agreed on the afternoon of transfer deadline day earlier this month, however, Crystal Palace pulled the plug on the deal.
And when asked by host Rebecca Lowe if the defender could join in the winter window, he joked: "I'm sorry Rebecca, you went cloudy on me there!"
Had Liverpool not been able to complete a deal with Newcastle United for the signing of Alexander Isak at all this summer, Werner suggested the club may have been prepared to move on altogether.
He explained: "In the Newcastle situation, obviously their club needed to find a replacement.
"We thought we had a terrific financial offer for them.
We're equally proud of our trophies and what we've done at Anfield.
"When we came in and looked at the club, there were all these plans about tearing down Anfield, just as there were plans to tear down Fenway Park.
I'm so proud of the fact we have increased our capacity and done it in a very classy way.
