The long-running saga came to an end yesterday evening as Florian Wirtz was officially unveiled as a Liverpool player.

An announcement that sent the Liverpool community into a frenzy, there is now a new superstar in town.

The Florian Wirtz transfer to Liverpool could cost the club £116m if all add-ons are achieved, smashing the club’s transfer record but also the English transfer record, as he would become the most expensive signing in the country’s history.

After Wirtz agreed to become a Red, it was down to the clubs, and tough negotiations followed that lasted several weeks.

Once everything was finalised, Liverpool moved quickly and got their man.

Florian Wirtz has changed the narrative.

It is not uncommon that a German star who is impressing in the Bundesliga makes the textbook switch to Bayern Munich to continue their development as a player, but Wirtz had other ideas.

It is likely that Florian Wirtz will make his competitive debut for Liverpool at Wembley on Augst 10th as they face Crystal Palace for a chance to win the Community Shield.

He is expected to link up with his new Liverpool teammates in early July as Liverpool embark on their preseason tour of Hong Kong and Japan.
