Florian Wirtz is set to become Liverpool’s second summer signing of the transfer window after a record-breaking £116m deal was struck with Bayer Leverkusen.
An initial fee of £100m, it could rise to £116m if performance-related bonuses are met which include winning the Premier League and the Champions League.
Th German midfielder comes off the back of a season where he has registered double figures in goals and assists for the second year running, as well as winning back-to-back Bundesliga Player of the season awards.
To match such talent, Liverpool have had to offer him a hefty salary and it has now been revealed just how much he will be earning at his new club.
According to Sky Sports, Wirtz will earn a salary of £12.77m a year which equates to roughly £195,000 a week.
This number could increase to £245,000 a week, if individual and team bonuses are triggered.
A figure as high as that puts him within the top bracket of Liverpool’s highest earners, but still behind Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
Mohamed Salah’s new deal that he signed in April is worth £380,000 a week, whilst Virgil van Dijk is the highest earner at the club on £400,000 a week.
Florian Wirtz will be entering the club on a big salary but he won’t be coming in with any arrogance.
A player handpicked to usher in the new era under Arne Slot, he is seen as the perfect midfielder to center the team around.
He becomes the tenth player to move for a nine-figure fee.
