Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes if Florian Wirtz signs for his old club nobody will stop them from retaining the Premier League title next year.
As previously reported by the ECHO, negotiations are ongoing between the Reds and Leverkusen over a deal for the 22-year-old that is almost certain to smash the club record transfer of the Premier League champions.
Leverkusen value the Germany international at around €150million although there could be a compromise over the final fee.
Arne Slot wants to make a significant play for the Germany playmaker, who has scored 16 times and claimed 15 assists this season.
Wirtz was also a key member of the Leverkusen team who went undefeated on their way to the Bundesliga title last term - and Murphy believes his old club will reign supreme in the Premier League again next season if they secure his signature.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy said: "Listen, if Liverpool are getting Wirtz, it's done.
I mean, yeah."
Asked how he thinks Wirtz would line up in Arne Slot's plans, the former England international answered: "He gives you the option of both.

"He likes playing as a No.10, which means [Dominik] Szoboszlai would have to drop a bit deeper, or Wirtz can play as a false nine and then you've got the same three in midfield - [Alexis] Mac Allister, Szoboszlai and [Ryan] Gravenberch.
"I think [Darwin] Nunez will go."
Before he concluded: "I've seen bits of Wirtz, but when I heard this is a possibility I found everything I could on him, just because I was intrigued.

He's got lovely feet where he can dribble past people and do lovely bits of skill, but his passing is superb.
