Florian Wirtz continues to be linked with a blockbuster move to Liverpool and could have the perfect gift waiting for him if he was to sign for the Reds.

The Bayer Leverkusen star has been mentioned heavily on the rumour mill in recent days as being a potential target for Liverpool when the summer transfer window opens.

The Anfield hierarchy are admirers of Wirtz, but expect the player to either remain with Leverkusen, or join Bayern Munich this summer.



Leverkusen are said to value Wirtz at a fee which would be in excess of £100million.

It remains to be seen just what the future holds for the 22-year-old, with Liverpool still being mentioned in various reports as having an interest in signing the Germany international.

If Liverpool do manage to agree a deal to sign Wirtz, they could have the possibility of giving the perfect gift to the playmaker.

As is always the case when a new signing is confirmed, they are given a squad number which they will then wear during their time with the club.

Liverpool currently have both No.23 and No.27 available for Wirtz, should he switch to Anfield.

Both numbers have been worn by Wirtz during his time at the BayArena, with No.23 the number worn by the playmaker during his time with the club's Under-19s.

After impressing with the academy set-up, Wirtz was quickly promoted to the first-team where he then wore the No.27, which was his own for four years before being given his current squad number (No.10) in 2023.

Liverpool also have the numbers 6, 12, 13, 15 and 16 available to new signings, while others could become available if some members of the squad were to leave Anfield this summer.

Of course, No.23 was worn previously by Jamie Carragher, plus Robbie Fowler before his No.9 days.
