Liverpool have made it through the first part of the summer transfer window with business able to be completed before 7pm deadline passed on Tuesday night.

But, it is hardly done and dusted there as in six days' time the window reopens through to September 1.

The first signing through the door was full-back Jeremie Frimpong, arriving from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5m.



Following on was 20-year-old goalkeeper Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akamedia, with £1.5m the fee required, plus it can hardly be forgotten that Liverpool sealed a £30m deal with Valencia well in advance to bring fellow shot-stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili to Anfield on July 1.

Rounding off the latest period were the departures of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, collecting a healthy £10m, whilst Caoimhin Kelleher went to Brentford for £18m.

But, at 22 years of age he certainly has room for growth that not many others can boast.

A boost has arrived in the form of Chelsea failing to agree a transfer in time for the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, meaning the Frenchman is not bound to any destination yet, giving Liverpool the time they require to swoop in once they have seen off their priorities.

If this does not happen then in a year's time the club face the same result as they did with Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Even if the central defender does renew, the Reds would still only have him plus Virgil van Dijk, Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez to call upon, so it might be an oversight not to recruit another in the position.

Already completed during the first summer window were the signings Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi, then Giorgi Mamardashvili's arrival from Valencia was agreed well in advance.

Outgoings

Moving on from their shopping spree, Liverpool would be wise to recoup some funds through the sales of three players set to be usurped by some of the above signings.

With Wirtz's arrival, Harvey Elliott's minutes would most likely dry up even further than they already have done over the past season

The possibility of first-team football for Vitezslav Jaros under John Heitinga at Ajax might also be a worthwhile decision as Pecsi can now fill in as third-choice goalkeeper.

Already departed Liverpool during the first summer window were Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid and Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford.
