Florian Wirtz has been spotted flying to the UK as Liverpool prepare to complete his record signing.

After thrashing out the terms of the agreement, all that is left is for Wirtz to undergo his medical with his new side and undergo his media commitments.

And it appears that is not too far aware.



According to numerous reports, Wirtz arrived at a Cologne airport in a people carrier with his representatives ahead of flying to the UK.

It was suggested in Germany that Wirtz may have undergone the first part of his Liverpool medical on Thursday, with final details due to be thrashed on Friday.

It was further reported that Wirtz’s plane was expected to land in Manchester shortly before 5pm.

Once the move is finalised, the 22-year-old will be reunited with his former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong - the pair having recently holidayed together.

Both stars shared a snap of them on a boat, with Frimpong captioning the picture “Vacation mode with my bro.” And while the former Leverkusen defender will no doubt be delighted to be reunited with his pal on Merseyside, Wirtz’s family might be even more delighted at the transfer.

The German’s parents Hans and Karin, who also act as his agents, have joined him when he travelled to England last month, and have negotiated on his behalf.
