It is no longer news that Florian Wirtz is set to be a Liverpool in the coming days.

His potential move to Liverpool first broke last month?

And after it was disclosed that he favoured a move to Anfield over Bayern Munich or Manchester City, fans were hoping the deal would be struck as quickly as Liverpool managed to strike that of Jeremie Frimpong.

However, the negotiation between Bayer Leverkusen and the Premier League champions lingered for a while, with Liverpool sending in at least three bids in the process.

But after months of speculation, Liverpool have got their man.

The Reds have agreed a club-record £116 million deal (or approximately €140 million) with Bayer Leverkusen for Wirtz.

Should all bonuses be triggered, the deal would surpass the current British transfer record held by Moises Caicedo’s £115 million move from Brighton to Chelsea in 2023.

David Ornstein of The Athletic recently confirmed that the German international will undergo his Liverpool medical on Friday, ahead of completing his record-breaking move from Bayer Leverkusen.

While Liverpool are set to pay a premium for the attacker, GIVEMESPORT has revealed that the club will not break their wage structure in the deal.

According to the report, the 22-year-old will “earn in excess of €12m (£10.2million) per year when he seals his Liverpool move.

The report also revealed that “his annual salary will rise to a maximum figure close to €15m (£12.8million) annually – or £245,000-a-week – if individual and team performance targets are met.”

Wirtz is coming off a season in which he registered double figures in goals and assists for the second year running and won back-to-back Bundesliga Player of the Season awards.

A figure as high as that puts him within the top bracket of Liverpool’s highest earners, but still behind Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Mohamed Salah’s new deal that he signed in April is worth £380,000 a week, whilst Virgil van Dijk is the highest earner at the club on £400,000 a week.
