Florian Wirtz has said that Jeremie Frimpong had little impact on his decision to join Liverpool.
Frimpong, became the Reds first signing of the summer earlier this month after the club activated his $40 million release clause to bring him in from Bayer Leverkusen.
In his first interview with the club, Wirtz opened up on his friendship with Frimpong and revealed how much of an impact he had on his decision to move to Liverpool.
"I played i think three or four years with him, yeah he's a really good player" said Wirtz.
But I think I made my decision on my own, but maybe he was a small part that convinced me in the end as well."
On what it will be like to play with Frimpong again in the Premier League, Wirtz added: "I think it is a really nice thing that we can play together again at the new club.
Wirtz and Frimpong will join up with the rest of the Liverpool squad in July
His arrival represents a major coup for Liverpool, who are looking to build on their Premier League triumph under Arne Slot with a strong and strategic summer transfer window.
