"It is about the market, contract lengths and other things.

"But I think he knows to just go there in the best possible shape, to get to know his new team-mates as quickly as possible, and to just go and enjoy his game, play the way he plays that made him one of the most desired players in the world.

"If things need a little time to really click, don’t think about the transfer fee, just keep going and trust in what he can do and what he did in the past."

Gallas also reflected on Mohamed Salah's campaign with the Reds, where his 29 Premier League goals fired Arne Slot's side to the title, saying the Egyptian will see himself in the same bracket as greats like Arsenal icon Thierry Henry and Manchester City great Sergio Aguero.

Gallas added: "Salah last season was fantastic.

Even with his contract extension, Salah will be ready to play at his best and I think he still has a lot to show because he’s going to want to finish on the podium of all-time top scorers in the Premier League.

"But I do understand that these records can motivate the players, individually.

I think Salah will look at how he compares to players like Thierry Henry and Sergio Aguero as foreign strikers in the Premier League.
