Germany's manager Julian Nagelsmann has denied any involvement in Florian Wirtz's decision to reject Bayern Munich for Liverpool.

Wirtz is reportedly keen on joining the newly crowned Premier League champions, with Liverpool having tabled a club record bid of approximately £109 million for the promising forward.

While Bayer Leverkusen's response to the offer remains uncertain, there is a shared belief that the 22-year-old will be donning the red jersey in the coming weeks.



Despite being voted the Bundesliga's best player for two consecutive seasons, Wirtz and his representatives were not swayed by Bayern during transfer talks.

Instead, he was impressed by Liverpool's facilities and the vision of head coach Arne Slot, who aims to build on this season's Premier League success in his second year at the helm.

Should the move materialise, Wirtz will reunite with former Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who recently completed a £29.5 million switch to Anfield.

Nagelsmann, who had a tumultuous stint at Bayern before taking over Germany's national team, insists he played no part in Wirtz's decision.

Rumours have circulated in Germany that Nagelsmann attempted to sway Wirtz into a Premier League switch, but the 37 year old vehemently denies these claims.

"I've never told a player to move here or there," Nagelsmann asserted during a press conference ahead of Germany's tantalising Nations League semi-final clash with Portugal in Munich.
