The noise around the possibility of Liverpool signing Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz seems to be gaining traction ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Reds have emerged as a potential destination for Wirtz over the last few days, with various reports continuing to emerge about the 22-year-old's future.
The ECHO reported last week that while Liverpool do have an admiration in Wirtz, there is still the expectation that the player will remain in Germany either with Leverkusen or by moving to Bayern Munich.
But reports have since emerged from various outlets claiming that the Reds may now be the favourites to sign Wirtz, and last night the ECHO reported that Liverpool have officially made contact with Leverkusen about their star player.

If Liverpool do go on to sign Wirtz then he would likely aim to be one of the first names on the team sheet.
The Germany international's versatility is likely to be one of the main reasons why the Reds would want to sign the player, but it's the No.10 role where he would likely perform more often than not.
This is a position that Dominik Szoboszlai has often played for Liverpool this season in Arne Slot's 4-2-3-1 formation.
Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have been utilised deeper in midfield, which could see Wirtz be used further forward.
Even though Wirtz is set to be used in his position, Szoboszlai - who was signed for £60million from RB Leipzig in 2023 - could be given additional responsibilities going into next season if this transfer was to go ahead.
Gravenberch and Mac Allister started the vast majority of Premier League matches for Liverpool this season
Slot may want to rotate more next term to give the duo more rest for the business end of the campaign, which could see Szoboszlai used in a deeper role than he's been accustomed to this term.
The Hungarian started alongside Gravenberch in a midfield two in the 3-2 defeat to Brighton on Monday night, which may point to potential plans for next season.
The performance would have given Slot an idea as to whether or not Szoboszlai can perform the midfield role the way he desires, especially if the plan would be to use Wirtz in the No.10 spot if a deal with Leverkusen can be agreed.
It's also worth mentioning that Wirtz can also play on either wing and as a centre forward when required
This would give Slot plenty of options at his disposal if Wirtz was to move to Anfield, both in the forward line as well as in midfield.
