After securing deals for Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi already this summer, Liverpool are hoping to wrap up a deal for Florian Wirtz in the days ahead and make the Bayer Leverkusen attacker their third signing of the window.
The Premier League champions emerged as the favourites to sign the Germany international last month ahead of Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich and Premier League rivals Manchester City.
But as of yet, the Reds have been unable to agree on a fee for Wirtz after an opening offer of up to £109m was rejected by Leverkusen.

The Reds' latest offer guarantees the Bundesliga outfit a fee of £100m, while the remaining £13m would be paid if certain add-ons were achieved during the attacker's time at Anfield.
The 2024 Bundesliga winners, however, are said to be holding out for a fee closer to £126m for Wirtz, who joined from FC Koln in January 2020.
If Liverpool's offer is accepted, then it would eclipse the £85m committed to spending on Darwin Nunez in June 2022 and make Wirtz the most expensive player in the club's history.
On Saturday, German publication BILD said Wirtz's move to Liverpool was "only a matter of time" and claimed the attacker has already agreed a five-year contract with the Reds.
Writing in BILD, journalist Rene Walther said: "A transfer of Leverkusen superstar Florian Wirtz to Liverpool FC seems only a matter of time.
"The player and club have long since agreed on a deal, including the length of the contract until 2030.
Liverpool and Leverkusen are also getting closer and closer in terms of the transfer fee.
"The mega-deal will likely be finalised soon."
As expected, Wirtz has not said anything publicly about the possibility of joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen.
However, after Wednesday's Nations League encounter between Germany and France at the Allianz Arena, the 22-year-old appeared to nod his head when asked by the Daily Mail's Lewis Steele if he was excited about the possibility of moving to Anfield this summer.
