Florian Wirtz has been advised that Arne Slot is a superior manager to Erik ten Hag, as it was revealed that the Liverpool boss played a significant role in the German's potential transfer to Anfield.
The future of the Bayer Leverkusen attacker has been a major point of discussion this summer with the Premier League champions, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City all vying for the 22-year-old.
Discussions about Wirtz's next move suggested that a transfer to the German champions was most likely until a recent meeting with Slot, alongside his father and agent, Hans-Joachim Wirtz.
The intervention from the Reds boss was said to have been crucial in the Germany international opting to reject Bayern for a chance to move abroad for the first time in his young career.
According to Bild, the meeting earlier this month saw Slot provide Wirtz with a clear picture of where he'll fit within his title-winning team and was promised a starring role among the club's potent attack.
Becoming smitten with promises of a central role within one of the world's best teams, as well as being informed of the passionate support from the club's fans resulted in Wirtz's father informing Bayern executives Uli Hoeness and Max Eberl that it was Liverpool who had clinched his son's signature, reports the Mirror.
Wirtz could have been playing under Erik ten Hag next season if a move to Anfield wasn't on the cards, following the announcement that the ex-Manchester United boss would take over after Xabi Alonso's move to Real Madrid.

However, a switch to Liverpool means Wirtz will be working with a superior boss, in the eyes of Cambuur midfielder Mark Diemers.
Having played under both Ten Hag at Utrecht and Arne Slot at Feyenoord, Diemers is well-placed to judge their coaching prowess.
The 31-year-old didn't mince words when revealing his preference last year to ESPN Netherlands, saying: "I choose Arne Slot," when quizzed on the best manager he's worked with.
"I can only talk from my time.
I just didn't think he was very good, at that time, on a human level.
I thought Slot was a lot stronger on a human level.
"Look at what kind of clubs [Ten Hag] has worked at, so he must also have qualities on a human level.
He will undoubtedly have grown on a human level as well."

Despite a lack of consistent success in Manchester – and some dressing room problems – Ten Hag still managed to bag two trophies during his tenure at the club, maintaining his reputation as a manager who knows how to secure silverware.
Ten Hag also earned praise for his style of play at Ajax, which initially attracted United to the 55-year-old.
However, it's Slot who has arguably established himself as the superior of the two recently, following title triumphs with Feyenoord and, naturally, Liverpool in his debut season as boss of the Premier League club.
