Liverpool could be on to a good thing if they can complete the transfer of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz in the upcoming summer transfer window.
As previously reported by the ECHO, the Reds are ready to battle with both Manchester City and Bayern Munich for Wirtz.
Liverpool have reached out to representatives of the 22-year-old, and have informed both the player and his parents of their interest in signing him this summer.
While our colleagues at the Manchester Evening News have reported that Wirtz's parents, one of whom is his agent Hans-Joachim, flew to Blackpool to meet with City over a transfer last month.
For Xabi Alonso this season, the central player has notched 16 goals and 15 assists and while that was not enough to help Leverkusen retain their Bundesliga crown, it has drawn the attention of several clubs across Europe.

With three teams thought to be in the race for Wirtz now, it appears the attacking midfielder is going to be one of the hot topics of the summer transfer window.
One of the reasons for this is perhaps the glowing reviews Wirtz has received in his short career to date.

When he joined up with the German national team in 2021, then-manager Hansi Flick was delighted to call him up and described him as the full package.
"Florian is just a huge asset with his care-free nature," Flick explained as quoted in a recent BBC article.
"He's simply an outstanding technician, loves to play, is very creative, has a good shot, runs hard and is quick.
