Florian Wirtz is on the verge of becoming a Liverpool player after an agreement was reached with Bayer Leverkusen - although he will have to find a new shirt number at Anfield.

The Reds could be set to break the British transfer record after finally agreeing a deal with Leverkusen.

Wirtz is now expected to pen a long-term deal at Anfield, following in the footsteps of former Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who became the first new signing of the summer.

10 that is currently claimed by Alexis Mac Allister - something which was angrily denied by Wirtz.
