Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler lauded Diego Gomez for his stunning performance in their 6-0 thrashing of Barnsley.

The Paraguayan scored four goals, including a first half hat-trick, at Oakwell in their Carabao Cup clash.

Former Inter Miami midfielder Gomez has now netted five times for Brighton this season.

And Hurzeler was delighted with the 22-year-old's showing as they cruised into the fourth round.

"We are pleased we had Diego in such unbelievable shape tonight, unbelievable goals and these helped us get better and better into the game.

"Especially in the second half, the boys did a good job, they had a good structure, they created chances, scored goals and were good in defence.

"Yesterday we had a finishing drill and they all scored some nice goals and we were joking we always have to do this with him now before the game.

"We're very pleased for him.

If you can't, do it in a way that doesn't lead to a yellow card."

This doesn't look good at all for Giovanni Leoni...

The Liverpool centre-back landed awkwardly and instantly looked in a lot of pain, staying in the same position and grimacing.

As the medical team looked at him, Leoni just stayed still and appeared to be looking down at his knee.

He's scored his first goal and has now been withdrawn.

Hugo Ekitike takes his place at the break, with his minutes still being managed as he works back to fitness.

Isak even did a warm-down on the pitch after the whistle blew.

Liverpool lead Southampton 1-0 at Anfield.

Can they maintain their lead to progress in the Carabao Cup?

THE GAME HAS BEEN TURNED ON ITS HEAD!

As things stand, the Premier League giants are being upset...

Adrian Durham live on talkSPORT: "This is insane, the world champions are losing to the team third in the third tier of English football.

"It's all of Chelsea's own doing...it's just ludicrous from Chelsea.

"I don't think they recovered from the first 90 seconds."
