This season's Champions League will be the second edition in which the new format is used.

Instead of 32 teams being split into eight groups of four, 36 sides will compete in a league phase.

The four pots of nine teams are calculated by their UEFA coefficient rankings, with Pot 1 having the best performing sides.

Each club will play four games at home and four games away.

A computer randomly selects the draw one by one, with Pot 1 being the first group to discover their opponents.

Multiple teams from the same country cannot face each other.

As well as this, clubs cannot play any more than two different sides from one country.
