After talkSPORT reported that Newcastle had opened talks with Burnley earlier this month, the transfer is moving along.

The Magpies have been long-term admirers of the England U21 star as Eddie Howe looks to reshuffle his goalkeeping options.

And now transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that personal terms are fully agreed and talks between the clubs are advancing.

Trafford is understood to have a £30million+ price tag, but there is yet to be an agreement reached on a fee.

The deal is still expected to be done in the coming days though, with Newcastle confident of getting their man.

Arsenal are in talks to sign Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera, talkSPORT understands.

The 20-year-old Spain Under-21 defender is valued in the region of €20million.

Mosquera is keen on the move, and the Gunners are optimistic of agreeing a package.

They want to add a versatile defender who can play centre-back and right-back.

Mosquera has quickly become the favoured option, and is willing to join knowing Gabriel and William Saliba are, when fit, an established centre-back pairing.

Arsenal had looked at Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi, but the England defender was reluctant to engage with them, knowing minutes couldn't be guaranteed just a year out from the 2026 World Cup.

Mosquera has made 90 appearances for Valencia and featured in 37 of their LaLiga games last campaign.

Arsenal have agreed a fee with Brentford for their captain Christian Norgaard, talkSPORT understands.

The Gunners will pay £10million plus £5m in add-ons for Danish midfielder Norgaard after fending off rival interest from north London neighbours Tottenham.

Mikel Arteta is the driving force behind the move, with Jorginho and Thomas Partey leaving on free transfers.

Partey is just a week away from becoming a free agent having failed to agree terms on a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal appear to be preparing themselves for his departure, having identified Norgaard as a replacement.

The Denmark international is keen on the move, with his Premier League experience appealing to the Gunners.

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to extend his Al Nassr contract, talkSPORT understands.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner will keep playing into his 40s after agreeing a new deal with the Saudi Pro League side.

Ronaldo had previously stated 'nothing will change' despite his contract expiring at the end of this month.

An extension has now been agreed ahead of the start of the league's new TV rights cycle in a huge boost for chiefs.

It comes after manager Stefano Pioli's departure was confirmed earlier on Wednesday.

Pioli had been in charge since his arrival in September, with his tenure lasting just nine months in the role.

During that time, he won 28 of his 44 matches in the dugout but failed to win any silverware.

As for Ronaldo, who turns 41 in February, he joined Al Nassr in 2023 following his Manchester United exit.

He has since scored 74 goals in 77 Saudi Pro League appearances for the club.

Despite not yet winning a league title in the Middle East, he has clinched back-to-back golden boots.

Everton are reportedly in talks to sign Villarreal striker Thierno Barry.

However, an agreement has yet to be reached for the French under-21 international.

According to The Athletic, the Toffees are hoping to pay less than his £34million release clause.

Barry scored 11 goals in 34 appearances in La Liga last season as well as chipping in with four assists.

The 22-year-old, who has four years remaining on his Villarreal deal, is currently part of France's squad at the Under-21 Euros.

He was on the scoresheet in their group stage victory over Georgia last week.

David Moyes is set to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin's contract expires at the end of the month and he has yet to agree a new deal.

His exit would leave Beto and youngster Youssef Chermiti as the club's only two first-team strikers.

The latter scored just eight league goals in 30 matches last season.

Burnley have completed the signing of German goalkeeper Max Weiss from Karlsruher.

The 21-year-old youth international has signed a four-year deal at Turf Moor.

Weiss becomes the Clarets' fifth summer signing following their promotion back to the Premier League.

Loanees Bashir Humphreys, Marcus Edwards, Jaidon Anthony and Zian Flemming have all made their stays permanent.

Their new stopper kept eight clean sheets in 34 2.

It’s an amazing Club with a big ambition and all the conversations I have had with people from here have been so good and very positive.

“The training ground facility looks amazing, the pitches are so nice and I can’t wait to get in for pre-season and meet the rest of the team.”

His arrival comes amid doubts over James Trafford's future at the club.

Newcastle have opened talks with the Clarets over a potential £30million deal for the England man, talkSPORT understands.

Birmingham City are in advanced talks to sign Demarai Gray from Saudi club Al-Ettifaq, talkSPORT understands.

Gray would move to the Blues on a free transfer, with the Saudi Pro League side retaining a sell-on clause between 25 to 30 per cent.

With Jamaica's exit from the CONCACAF Gold Cup confirmed, the path is clear for Gray's future to be confirmed sooner than later.

The Reggae Boyz were dumped out following a 4-1 loss to Panama that left them third in Group C.

Should the move eventuate, it would herald the return of Gray to the club where he began his career.

Como are moving quickly in negotiations with Alvaro Morata, ahead of what will be the misfit striker's 10th transfer.

Morata joined his most recent permanent club AC Milan in July 2024 from Atletico Madrid for €13m (£10.9m) but struggled for form.

The Spaniard only spent six months at San Siro before he was loaned out to Turkish giants Galatasaray in January.

The unique structure of the agreement means the forward had signed a temporary deal until the end of 2025 (December 31).

However, Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sport Italia report that Como’s negotiations with Morata are underway to facilitate a move.

Cesc Fabregas’ club has sent an official proposal to the experienced striker, who played alongside his compatriot during his Chelsea stint.

Nottingham Forest have been told to not to sign Jordan Henderson as they prepare for their first European campaign in 29 years.

talkSPORT co-hosts Alan Brazil and Gabby Agbonlahor believe the 35-year-old's best days are behind him, with an emotional return to Sunderland their preferred next move for the player.

Speaking on Breakfast, Brazil said: "I don't want to have a go at Jordan… Because Jordan, when he first went [to Liverpool], I think Kenny [Dalglish] bought him, when he first went to Anfield, people weren't that sure, and then he proved them wrong.

"But he's 35 now, I think Forest… no.

Play [for] Sunderland in the Premier League and enjoy it.

"I'm not saying it's his last season, because he loves his football, but he'll probably go into coaching, won't he?

"I think Sunderland's the perfect move for him."

Manchester City have been told to make a move for Marc-Andre ter Stegen by German legend Lothar Matthaus.

Current No.1 Ederson has one year left on contract at Etihad Stadium and came close to a move away from the club last summer.

Ter Stegen, meanwhile, who was linked to a City switch in 2016, is facing an uncertain future at Barcelona following Joan Garcia's arrival.

Matthaus wrote in his column for Sky Sport Germany: "Six English clubs will be playing there next season, and none of them have a goalkeeper strong enough to say, 'Ter Stegen wouldn't be a reinforcement for us.' I don't know what Manchester City's plans are, but I think they're not too happy with Ederson.
