Alexander Isak has been pictured taking his first training session as a Liverpool player since his £125million move from Newcastle.

The third most expensive footballer in history has returned to Merseyside having been away with Sweden during the international break.

Having sat out Newcastle's start to the season force through a move, he played his first minutes of the season, just 18 of them, in a damaging 2-0 defeat to Kosovo.

Isak was previously at the club's training ground to complete his deadline day signing, but is now getting down to work.

He could well feature in this weekend's trip to Burnley on Saturday.

The striker was one of 17 Reds players to be called away on international duty, while seven more joined up with underage levels.

Also present at training was Jeremie Frimpong, who didn't meet up with the Netherlands due to an injury.

Fellow first team regulars Joe Gomez and Federico Chiesa were pictured too, having not been called up by their countries.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has paid tribute to Nuno Espirito Santo in an interview with talkSPORT.

The England winger, who's enjoyed the best form of his career since moving to the City Ground, made those steps up under Santo.

The Portuguese was sacked late Monday night, and Hudson Odoi has now paid tribute.

"With me and him, it was very close," he said.

"We had a good bond and we spoke about everything in every situation, whether it was on the pitch or off the pitch.

"He was just trying to get to know me more and I was trying to understand him as well as a coach.

"I understand what his ideas were and everything like that.

"I'm wishing for nothing but the best for the future."

Christian Eriksen has chosen Bundesliga side Wolfsburg as his next team according to reports in his native Denmark.

The attacking midfielder left Manchester United at the expiration of his contract on June 30 and had been linked to numerous teams.

Among them were big spending Championship outfit Wrexham, but Eriksen has opted to continue in the top flight.

Bayer Leverkusen were also linked with his former national team boss Kasper Hjulmand talking up the possibility.

However, the 2009 Bundesliga champions have instead secured the deal, with Eriksen spending the summer training at Malmo FF.

Nottingham Forest have announced four new coaching appointments to assist Ange Postecoglou this season.

The Australian was a rapid appointment at the City Ground following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo just days ago.

Postecoglou arrives as a Europa League winner with Tottenham last season, and as such, has been allowed to bring back his whole coaching team.

Countryman and former Crystal Palace regular Mile Jedinak has been named assistant coach, while Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo also take the same title from their time at Spurs.

The same can be said for Rob Burch who will continue as his goalkeeping coach.

Newcastle's Nick Woltemade has been defended after he was booed by Germany fans in a 3-1 win over Northern Ireland.

The £69million signing from Stuttgart assisted Serge Gnabry's seventh minute opener but otherwise had a quiet evening up until his 61st minute substitution.

His removal was met by some boos and whistles, and he was later defended by teammates post-match.

45-time German international Marcell Jansen has since given his take, having been live at the Rhein Energie stadium in Cologne to witness the response.

"That was a moment when I have to say I was ashamed in the stadium when he was booed," he said.

"The boy played for Bremen, came to Stuttgart on a free transfer, delivered a sensational performance in the U21 team, he's one of us.

"And because they're getting 90million [euros] for a player and then overpaying him… the boy can't help it."

Chelsea legend John Terry has spoken to talkSPORT's Ian Abrahams about his former club and manager Jose Mourinho.

The Blues haven't won the Premier League since 2018, a year after Terry left, but expectations are high that they could challenge recent winners Liverpool and Manchester City.

Giving his take, Terry said: "I think we always go for it and any big club has to have that as their mindset at the start of the season.

"In terms of Enzo Maresca saying that [they'll compete] there are teams with more experience so we'll quietly sit below those boys and keep putting in performances.

"We've had a good start to the season with seven points out of nine.

"I think it will be tough for us to go and win it this year, we have a really good young exciting squad, are we ready now?

When he’s fit, give him some games, give him some time."

Ange Postecoglou's appointment as the new Nottingham Forest manager gives him the chance to make some instant history.

Sky Bet report that no manager has ever won back-to-back Europa Leagues with different teams.

So, the Australian could easily create some personal history this year.

On that possibility, a Sky Bet spokesperson said: "With Ange Postecoglou taking up the Nottingham Forest job, he’s now got a great chance to go back-to-back in the Europa League.

"We’ve rated his chances of doing this – and breaking history by becoming the first manager to do the double with different sides in successive seasons – at 12/1."

Former Nottingham Forest and Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has a new job after being sacked by Leicester City.

The Welshman has been appointed by Danish side Brondby.

Cooper was overlooked for several Championship jobs this summer, and he's decided to head to Europe.

In a statement, Brondby said: "45-year-old Steve Cooper is the new head coach of Brøndby IF on a contract running until the summer of 2028.

"The Welsh head coach, who takes over from Frederik Birk, comes to Vestegnen with a CV that includes clubs such as Nottingham Forest, Swansea City and most recently Leicester City.

"The experience from both the Premier League and the Championship is flanked by a five-year period as manager of several youth national teams, culminating in a World Cup title as head coach of the England U17 national team.

"Director of Football Benjamin Schmedes talks about the hiring of Steve Cooper:

"Steve is that rare combination of youth and experience, vision and personality.

He is a man who can embrace a club like ours and lift both the individual player and the entire club to a new level," says Schmedes."

Cooper will be in charge for the weekend's game against Copenhagen.

talkSPORT understands that the final straw that broke the camel's back, leading to Nuno Espirito Santo being sacked by Nottingham Forest happened during the 3-0 defeat to West Ham United.

However, it wasn't the result, and it was actually because he didn't bring Douglas Luiz off the bench.

Forest signed the Brazilian from Juventus during the transfer window, but he was only on the bench against the Hammers.

And after refusing to bring him on and introducing Omari Hutchinson for just a minute, Evangelos Marinakis made up his mind and decided Nuno had to go.

Nuno's relationship with Edu had collapsed over the summer window over signings, and that proved to be the final straw.

After Nuno Espirito Santo's departure, the first Nottingham Forest player to pay tribute to the manager is Neco Williams.

The Welshman became a huge part of the Forest side that sealed their return to Europe last season.

A successful tenure in Glasgow saw Postecoglou win the domestic double in his first season in Scotland and the treble in his second year, which earned
him a nomination for the FIFA World Coach of the Year in 2023.

"Moving to England to take over at Tottenham Hotspur, who finished fifth in his first season, Postecoglou guided Spurs to their first major trophy in 17 years, winning the Europa League in 2024/25 and qualifying for the Champions League."

Forest's owner Evangelos Marinakis also added his own words.

He said: “We are bringing a coach to the Club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies.

"His experience of coaching teams at the highest level, along with his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him a fantastic person to help us on our journey and achieve consistently all our ambitions.

“After gaining promotion to the Premier League, then building consistently season after season to secure European football, we now must take the right step to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies.
