Manchester City have confirmed the signing of James Trafford from Burnley.

The England youth international has rejoined the Citizens two years after departing for Burnley.

City sold the goalkeeper for £14 million and have re-signed him for £27m, meaning it is effectively £13m.

He has signed a five-year deal at the Etihad, with the option for an extra one.

Speaking to the club's website, he said: “Rejoining City is such special and proud moment both for me and my family.

“I always dreamed that one day I would be able to come back to Manchester City.

“This is the place I call home – it’s a truly special football club with fantastic people who make it such a unique place to work and play.

“I am also so very excited and honoured to have been given the opportunity to work under Pep and with such a world-class group of players.

“I am still very young and hungry to keep learning and improving – and I know there is no better environment than Manchester City to help make me become the best goalkeeper I can be.

“I also cannot wait to play in front of the amazing City fans for the first time and will do everything I can to help this great club look to achieve even more success.”

talkSPORT understands that Manchester United will target a move for Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope should the Toon sign Aaron Ramsdale.

Newcastle are in talks with Southampton over a loan deal for the former England international.

Eddie Howe worked with Ramsdale at Bournemouth and would be keen to bring the shot-stopper to Tyneside.

The deal would be a loan with an option to buy, and should it happen, Pope would become a Man United target.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Chelsea are set to give Marc Cucurella a new contract.

After initially struggling at Stamford Bridge, since Euro 2024, the Spaniard has been one of the best left-backs in the world.

His ability to get up and down the left and knack for scoring important goals has made him a fans' favourite.

Cucurella currently has three years left on his deal, but a new contract would more reflect his importance to Enzo Maresca..

Thomas Muller is in advanced talks to join Major League Soccer (MLS) side Vancouver Whitecaps, talkSPORT understands.

A deal has almost been agreed after the Whitecaps reached an agreement in principle with FC Cincinnati for Muller's discovery rights.

Cincinnati made a play prior to the summer to sign Muller, but were unable to use one of their three Designated Player (DP) spots on the German.

For those new to MLS rules, a Designated Player is one whose contract falls outside of the league's salary cap.

Muller is not expected to join the Whitecaps as a DP for the 2025 campaign, but he will be upgraded to that status for the 2026 season.

The 35-year-old was also wanted by Australian club Sydney FC, but a move Down Under is now off the table.

Muller became a free agent after he departed German giants Bayern Munich, where he had spent his entire professional career.

During his lengthy stint with the German giants, Muller registered 250 goals and 276 assists in 756 appearances for Bayern.

He also collected a staggering 13 Bundesliga titles as well as two Champions League crowns.

It hasn't taken long for Tottenham boss Thomas Frank to be bestowed with a certain honour.

Popular Spurs fan Expressions informed the Dane during a press conference in Hong Kong that he has already garnered a nickname among supporters.

"The Tottenham fans seem to call you Thomas the Frank Engine, do you like it," Expressions asked.

Frank replied: "I think it's OK.

That's fine for me."

The nickname is, of course, a play on the iconic series Thomas the Tank Engine.

It remains to be seen whether Frank will be revered as much as the lovable locomotive.

But he'll get a chance to make an early impression when Tottenham take on Arsenal in the first north London derby to be played outside the United Kingdom.

The two rivals will collide on Thursday at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong before Tottenham take on Newcastle in South Korea on August 3.

When it rains, it really does pour for Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls have been hit with a prohibition notice from the Sheffield City Council (SCC) for its North Stand at Hillsborough.

It means Wednesday will not be able to open the North Stand until the SCC have received the 'necessary professional assurances the ground is safe'.

Wednesday were requested by the SCC to conduct urgent repair works in the North Stand after 'extensive corrosion' was found in the roof.

The need for the repairs to be made immediately prompted Wednesday to lodge a request with the English Football League (EFL) for their season opener to be an away match so they could have more time to make the necessary fixes.

That request was granted, with Wednesday to play Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on August 10.

Liverpool have won the transfer tug-o-war to snap up Salford City prodigy Will Wright, talkSPORT understands.

The Reds and Arsenal had locked horns in the battle for Wright's signature, with the Gunners even outbidding the Premier League champions.

But Liverpool ousted their rivals after they made an improved offer and reached a club-to-club agreement.

Wright's move to Anfield comes as a blow to Salford co-owners David Beckham and Gary Neville in what is their first summer since becoming the sole co-owners of the club in May.

Wright, who scored over 50 goals at all levels for Salford last season, is one of the youngest players ever to debut for the League Two side.

He also made his senior debut for the club against Manchester City last January, a match which ended in a 8-0 defeat for Salford City.

Wright only played a few minutes of the Etihad drubbing, but his inclusion underlined the Class of '92 hierarchy's faith in him.

It means Felix will now count all-time legend Cristiano Ronaldo as a teammate.

Felix, 25, first joined Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid in January 2023 and made 16 league appearances.

A season-long loan with Barcelona followed before he returned to Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis last summer.

But it has ultimately proved to be a short stay in west London as he now joins the sixth different club in his senior career.

A new domestic TV deal is set to herald the arrival of several new innovations among broadcasters.

Half-time interviews with players and managers as well as in-game interviews with managers or substituted players are all set to be introduced, as is dressing room access.

Broadcasters will have dressing room access either between the end of a club's warm-up and the first bell for kick-off, between the first bell and players leaving the dressing room at half-time or straight after the game once all the players have returned.

As part of the deal, clubs have to allow broadcasters one of these new features at least twice per season.

However, they will be able to get out of the dressing room access should they be losing.

But if clubs refuse dressing room access, it means they must accommodate another one of the broadcaster's request for access later in the season.

If clubs want enhanced access, they must outline their requests 72 hours in advance of kick-off.

Details of the broadcasting changes were laid out in the Premier League's latest handbook.

Although Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl came to a mutual agreement for the German to depart, talkSPORT understands he will NOT receive a pay-off.

News of Rohl departing without some extra coin comes as the Owls remain mired in financial uncertainty.

The club was slapped with a three-window ban from signing new players for a transfer fee for the next three windows on June 18.

It came as the club failed to pay transfer fees and made late payments for players and to the HMRC.

Players who were not paid their wages on time were permitted to hand in a 15-day notice of their contract termination.

Borussia Dortmund are debating whether to make an approach for Jadon Sancho, talkSPORT understands.

Italian giants Juventus also remain in talks with the winger.

Manchester United are prepared to sell Sancho for as little as £17million.

That represents a £56m loss for the Red Devils given they forked out an eye-watering £73m to sign him from Dortmund in 2021.

Sancho spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan with Chelsea, who had a £25m obligation to buy him at the end of the season.

However, the Blues paid a £5m penalty to avoid signing Sancho on a permanent basis.

Sancho finished his time at Stamford Bridge with five goals and ten assists from 41 appearances across all competitions.

Manchester United are exploring moves for Benjamin Sesko and Ollie Watkins, talkSPORT understands.

The Red Devils have already held talks with Watkins, although it is understood Villa would prefer to keep the England international.

Villa value Watkins at £60million, although United are optimistic they can reach a deal for a lower figure if the Midlands outfit can find a suitable replacement.

As for Sesko, RB Leipzig are believed to want a fee of €80m (£69m) or more.

Adding to the Sesko situation is the fact Newcastle are heavily interested given the uncertain future of Alexander Isak.

It is understood the Magpies are further along down the line in terms of discussions compared to United.

Wrexham are not going to leave any stone unturned in their bid to avoid the drop from the Championship.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson confirmed the club's interest in 49-time Wales international Kieffer Moore.

"Kieffer's under contract at Sheffield United," Parkinson said.

"He's one of a number of players we've looked at over the summer.

"Like I said, the landscape changes in the transfer market very quickly from one week to the next.

"We're looking at lots of options here and abroad."

Moore, a striker, joined the Blades in July 2024 and netted five times from 28 Championship fixtures last term.

So far, Parkinson has added goalkeeper Danny Ward, defender Liberato Cacace, midfield duo George Thomason and Lewis O'Brien as well as attacking pair Ryan Hardie and Josh Windass this summer.

An audacious bid was also launched for Christian Eriksen, but it never came to fruition.

Bayern will fork out an initial £61.1m, with £4.4m to be paid in add-ons, which are considered easily attainable by Liverpool.

The Reds had been strong in their stance that the Colombian was not for sale, but they have reluctantly caved in with the player keen on a new adventure.
