Hugo Ekitike continues to train with Eintracht Frankfurt, despite his potential move to Liverpool.

The French forward was involved in Friday's session, German outlet Bild report.

It comes amid growing expectation Ekitike will move to Anfield this summer.

The Reds have launched an opening verbal offer worth around £70million for the 23-year-old, talkSPORT understands.

Ekitike has already agreed personal terms with the club on a six-year deal through to 2031.

However, Liverpool's first bid falls short of Frankfurt's £77million valuation.

Arne Slot's side have emerged as the leading candidates to sign Ekitike after Newcastle ditched their talks over a deal.

The Magpies have since turned their attentions to Brentford's Yoane Wissa.

Ekitike has indicated the Premier League champions are his preferred destination.

Last season saw him score 15 goals and add eight assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances.

Liverpool have made another heartfelt tribute to Diogo Jota on their club website.

The Portuguese forward has been given his own section on the first-team squad list.

Jota tragically passed away aged 28 on July 3 in a car accident alongside his brother Andre Silva.

Liverpool have since retired his number 20 shirt out of respect for the player and his family.

He has now been given included on the squad list under the sub-heading 'Forever'.

As well as his name, picture and position, his squad number is also included.

Fans are also still able to view Jota's player profile on the Reds' official website.

Jota scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for Liverpool and was part of their Premier League title-winning side last season.

Como have confirmed the signing of midfielder Maximo Perrone from Manchester City.

The 21-year-old has penned a four-year deal with the Serie A side following a successful loan spell.

Perrone provided three assists in 26 appearances during his temporary stay last season.

He has now joined Cesc Fabregas' side permanently for a fee believed to be worth around £11million.

The Argentinian had spent two-and-a-half years with City after joining the club from Velez Sarsfield in January 2023.

In that time he also spent a season on loan in Spain with Las Palmas.

However, he played just 20 minutes of competitive action for Pep Guardiola's side across two first-team appearances.

Despite that, Perrone was on the bench as City won the Champions League in 2023.

Brentford are ready to rebuff all offers for Yoane Wissa following Manchester United's latest bid for Bryan Mbeumo, talkSPORT understands.

The Bees are expected to accept United's latest offering of £65million plus £5million add-ons for Mbeumo, bringing to an end one of the sagas of the summer.

Brentford are reluctant to lose both their leading scorers from last season in another blow for Newcastle, who are ready to turn to Wissa after missing out on Hugo Ekitike.

Nottingham Forest are also interested in Wissa along with Thomas Frank's Tottenham.

The DR Congo international is into the final year of his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium.

However, Brentford are keen to hold onto the forward beyond the end of the current transfer window.

Wissa scored 19 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season.

That tally was his highest since joining the club from Lorient in 2021.

Manchester United are ready to step up their interest in Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, talkSPORT understands.

United are in the hunt for a new stopper after Andre Onana was ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring injury.

Antwerp value Belgian under-21 international Lammens at around £17million.

The 23-year-old previously labelled the news 'special' after first learning of United's interest.

He told Belgian media in February: "The first time I heard it, I thought: 'wow', immediately a world team that follows you.

We have lots of exciting plans together and look forward to sharing more details in the future."

The Clarets will make their top-flight return away to Tottenham on August 16.

Former Premier League star Matt Ritchie has been stripped of his squad number at Portsmouth.

The 35-year-old is expected to leave Fratton Park this summer just a year after returning to his boyhood club.

Ritchie was absent from Pompey's pre-season training camp in Slovakia as he looked to secure a move away.

His fate now appears to be sealed after the club revealed their squad numbers for the 2025/26 season.

The number 30 shirt no longer belongs to Ritchie after being handed to goalkeeper Ben Killip instead.

Meanwhile, Ritchie does not appear at all on the squad list for the upcoming Championship campaign.

The midfielder sealed an emotional return to Pompey last summer, 13 years after leaving the club.

He went on to score five goals in 39 league appearances for John Mousinho's side as they avoided relegation from the second tier.

Ritchie currently has a year remaining on the two-year deal he penned in August 2024.

Saudi dealmakers are considering a world-record bid for Vinicius Jr, talkSPORT understands.

The Real Madrid winger has publicly stated he wants to stay at the Bernabeu and has been engaged in talks over a new contract.

Yet nothing is signed and the parties are yet to reach a full agreement.

Both Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid are understood to be calm about the situation, especially given the Brazilian's contract runs until 2027.

Saudi Pro League officials had felt in April that the 25-year-old might extend before the summer window opened, but have been encouraged by the lack of formalisation on a new long-term contract.

Talks with Vinicius about a Saudi Pro League switch have been ongoing for over a year, while senior Saudi executives have been trying to understand the right time to move.

There is a patient approach, with a firm desire to land Vinicius Jr within the next three years.

The lack of progress over a new Real contract is not necessarily an indication one won't be signed soon, but Saudi chiefs are prepared to make a world record offer in the region of €350million [£302m], surpassing the £200m Paris Saint-Germain paid to Barcelona in August 2017.

It follows a failed bid on behalf of Al Hilal to land Kylian Mbappe for €300m [£257m] in July 2023.

Vinicius Jr has also been offered around €1bn [£864m], including bonuses, across a proposed five-year contract sent in writing as a non-binding bid.

We saw no reason to delay this decision.

“We hope it will bring a little comfort to those who were close to Diogo and André, and we trust Wolves supporters will understand that this gesture is made with real love and admiration, and also fully justified.”

Former Fulham midfielder João Palhinha has responded to rumours that he could return to the Premier League.

Palhinha left Fulham for Bayern Munich last summer, but his time in Germany hasn't gone too well.

The Portugal international struggled with injuries and it meant he failed to get going, only starting six Bundesliga games.

He has also had to compete for a starting place with Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Konrad Laimer and Aleksandar Pavlovic.

It leaves him already being linked away from Bayern, with Arsenal one of the teams eyeing him, according to reports in Germany.

Inter Milan are also said to be interested in signing him, but he has remained coy on what his future holds.

"I have a contract for three more years, so I’ll report for duty on July 29, which is when we start this pre-season," Palhinha told Sport TV.

"As I’ve said several times, and it’s been a recurring question, I have three more years on my contract."

He added: "I don’t know what will happen, but I’m at a great club, as I’ve always said.

"Obviously, it hasn’t been an easy year, but as soon as the season starts, I’m very motivated to prove my worth once again at a very special club, a huge club."

West Ham are in talks with Kyle Walker-Peters after he pulled out of a move to Besiktas at the last minute, talkSPORT understands.

Walker-Peters had been booked in to undergo a medical in Istanbul ahead of joining the club.

As previously reported, West Ham owner David Sullivan is a big fan of the free agent former Southampton defender.

The full-back departed the Saints as his contract expired at the end of the season, in which the club were relegated.

But now, he could be set to remain in the Premier League with the Hammers following his quick turnaround in Turkey.

Wilfred Ndidi could end his stay in English football this summer with a move to Germany from Leicester City.

Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports News reports that the Nigerian midfielder is more likely to sign for a Bundesliga side.

Mainz and Hoffenheim are among the interested German clubs.

talkSPORT reported in April that Ndidi has a £9million relegation release clause in his contract at Leicester.

This fee is £8million less than what the Foxes reportedly paid to sign him from Genk in January 2017.

It is also understood that Manchester United and Everton have shown interest in Ndidi.

However, Graham Smyth of the Yorkshire Evening Post has reported that Bijol won't be available.

Florian Wirtz's father Hans-Joachim has revealed how his conversation with Arne Slot helped convince him to join Liverpool.

The German international was also linked with Bayern Munich, but it's the Reds who won the transfer race.

And speaking to DER SPIEGEL via @bayer04Xtra on X, Wirtz's father, who is also his agent, recalled head coach Slot's influence on the decision.

It was not that long ago that Liverpool fans were piling in on the club’s hierarchy for their lack of signings.

That certainly has not been the case this summer as the Premier League champions appear determined to make up for lost time.

The Reds have already smashed the British transfer for Florian Wirtz and are willing to do so again if they can persuade Newcastle to sell their star man Alexander Isak.

But, what else is in Liverpool’s in-tray between now and the end of the window?

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang looks set for a second spell at Marseille.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea striker has terminated his contract at Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah, as per Fabrizio Romano.

After leaving Chelsea in 2023, the 26-year-old spent one season at the French club and scored 30 goals in 51 appearances.
