Burnley are in advanced talks to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja.

Scott Parker is looking to raid his former side for the 23-year-old, as the Clarets prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Chelsea have been looking for £25million for Broja, who initially joined the youth setup at Stamford Bridge in 2009.

However, the BBC report that the move could be worth up to £20m.

The Albanian spent last season on loan at Everton, but failed to find the net in ten Premier League appearances for the Toffees.

In total, Broja has scored just three times for Chelsea from his 38 games in all competitions.

Sheffield Wednesday's players have refused to play in a friendly against Burnley this weekend.

The Owls were scheduled to face Premier League opposition in a behind-closed-doors fixture on Saturday.

However, the contest was cancelled after players and coaching staff boycotted the match after not receiving their July wages on time.

Players were informed this week that their wages would be delayed for the third month in a row and the fourth time since March.

talkSPORT's Sheffield correspondent, Alan Biggs, said: “Yeah, this in itself is not a surprise, but it's again a product of the mismanagement at the top of the club.

“Danny Rohl leaving is perhaps the least seismic shock that Sheffield Wednesday have suffered this summer because it was always on the cards.

“It's been on the cards since about January or February because of his complete fallout with the owner, Dejphon Chansiri, who's had a habit of falling out, not only with managers, but with key members of staff at Sheffield Wednesday.

It's simply a disgrace.

“A disgrace on football because for football to be powerless to act on a situation like this is utterly outrageous in my opinion.”

Al Hilal are stepping up their pursuit of Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Simone Inzaghi’s Saudi Pro League side have presented their project and plan to Nunez in recent days.

The transfer guru adds that talks will follow with the player and on the club side to understand the financial details of the deal.

Nunez is likely to leave Liverpool this summer with Liverpool seeking north of £59million, talkSPORT understands.

Al Nassr had a €70m [£59m] bid rejected in January, and Liverpool are using this number as a yardstick for valuation.

Following the £65.5million deal for Luis Diaz to join Bayern Munich, Liverpool have now raked in more than £190m in player sales (including add-ons) since Richard Hughes became their sporting director in June 2024.

Newcastle United are expecting Alexander Isak to return to first-team training next week, which will be August 5.

The Magpies have rejected an offer of £110 million from Liverpool today, with the Reds not wanting to get into a transfer saga.

That means, as of now, Liverpool aren't going to submit another offer.

Craig Hope reports that the Toon now want to see Isak at Benton next week.

The forward isn't part of the club's pre-season tour to Asia due to a thigh injury, but he also informed Newcastle of his desire to leave.

However, he has three years left on his deal at St James' Park, and the Toon's stance has been that Isak isn't for sale.

Liverpool have no plans to get into a cycle of rejected bids for Alexander Isak, talkSPORT understands.

The nature of Newcastle's rebuttal means the Premier League champions will not follow up with a second offer, for now.

It has been regarded as futile, unless Newcastle change their stance and contact Liverpool.

As we reported earlier today, Newcastle rejected a British record transfer offer.

It was understood to be worth more than £120million.

Mike Keegan, the chief sports reporter at the Daily Mail, has given an update on the situation regarding Sheffield Wednesday.

Players have been told that their wages could be delayed for the third month in a row amid financial issues that have rocked the club.

Wednesday have been placed under a transfer embargo by the EFL due to non-payment of transfer fees.

Owner Dejphon Chansiri has faced continued scrutiny and calls to sell the club, although he is reportedly looking for £100million to do so.

Manager Danny Rohl has also left his position, and the players have refused to play in a friendly against Burnley this weekend.

"It seems to be getting worse and worse by the day," Keegan said on talkSPORT Breakfast.

"The situation now is that the EFL are extremely concerned about the situation, and there are doubts that they will be able to fulfil the fixture against Leicester, which is coming up a week on Sunday.

"Gabby was talking there about what your local club means to you, and I'm an Oldham fan, we've had similar.

"And for Sheffield Wednesday, it's probably the biggest that we've seen.

[Mohammed] Kudus leaving, OK, how are you going to spend that money, who are you bringing in?

"Because you've got [Jarrod] Bowen, you've got [Lucas] Paqueta now, hopefully he's going to be the Paqueta that we all know.

"[Niclas] Fullkrug, I'm not sure he's the right man to score the goals, we don't know how Michail Antonio is going to be."

Liverpool have had what is believed to be a British record offer worth more than £120m rejected by Newcastle for Alexander Isak, talkSPORT understands.

Isak wants to join Liverpool and personal terms will not be an issue.

Newcastle ideally want to keep Isak or at least source a replacement before agreeing to sell.

The Swedish star didn't travel to the Magpies' pre-season tour to explore his options and is currently training with Real Sociedad.

Benjamin Sesko and Yoane Wissa have been linked as potential replacements for the 25-year-old, although Sesko is in talks with Man United.
