The forward isn't part of the club's pre-season tour to Asia due to a thigh injury, but he also informed Newcastle of his desire to leave.

Mike Keegan, the chief sports reporter at the Daily Mail, has given an update on the situation regarding Sheffield Wednesday.
Players have been told that their wages could be delayed for the third month in a row amid financial issues that have rocked the club.
Wednesday have been placed under a transfer embargo by the EFL due to non-payment of transfer fees.
Owner Dejphon Chansiri has faced continued scrutiny and calls to sell the club, although he is reportedly looking for £100million to do so.
Manager Danny Rohl has also left his position, and the players have refused to play in a friendly against Burnley this weekend.
"It seems to be getting worse and worse by the day," Keegan said on talkSPORT Breakfast.
"The situation now is that the EFL are extremely concerned about the situation, and there are doubts that they will be able to fulfil the fixture against Leicester, which is coming up a week on Sunday.
"Gabby was talking there about what your local club means to you, and I'm an Oldham fan, we've had similar.
"And for Sheffield Wednesday, it's probably the biggest that we've seen.
[Mohammed] Kudus leaving, OK, how are you going to spend that money, who are you bringing in?
"Because you've got [Jarrod] Bowen, you've got [Lucas] Paqueta now, hopefully he's going to be the Paqueta that we all know.
"[Niclas] Fullkrug, I'm not sure he's the right man to score the goals, we don't know how Michail Antonio is going to be."
