Nottingham Forest are planning to appoint a big-name manager if they decide to sack Nuno Espirito Santo in the near future.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have said about Evangelos Marinakis’ managerial plans amid rising tension at the City Ground.
The likes of Jose Mourinho, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers are thought to be on Forest’s radar and would be of interest should the role become available.
Football Insider revealed on 29 August that Nuno and Marinakis are set for crunch talks about the boss’ future as they aim to thrash out any issues between them.
All parties are believed to be keen to reach a resolution over the manager’s future, but there are doubts about whether the controversial owner can be won over.
In the meantime, the likes of Mourinho and Postecoglou are both out of work and a number of clubs including Forest are believed to have them in mind.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 28 August that Mourinho wants to return to the Premier League following his dismissal from Fenerbahce.

He is one of a number of names on the radar at the City Ground, while there remains a strong possibility that Nuno will stay in the job amid crunch talks.
O’Rourke explained that Marinakis will not be afraid to make a decision he thinks is best for the club, and is targeting big-name managers who fit with their long-term plans.
“Marinakis is looking for a high profile appointment,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s shown his ambition at Forest and has spent heavily in the transfer market.
“But more importantly, he’d be looking for the right appointment to continue the positive work that Nuno has done there.

“He’s taken them from relegation candidates to qualifying for Europe.
“Jose Mourinho, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers are top managers with Premier League experience, so they’ll be on Forest’s list.
“They’re on the list of a number of clubs, they’re winners who have impressive CVs.
“They’re three top managers and there will be a lot of interest in them.
“Forest have a contingency plan in place and those names are on their list.”
With Rodgers firmly on Forest’s radar, there has been plenty of speculation about him potentially leaving Celtic to return to the Premier League.
Football Insider revealed on 27 August that Rodgers is high on Nottingham Forest’s shortlist as they consider sacking Nuno in the coming days.

The boss has long been linked with a return to the Premier League, having made the move before when he joined Leicester City in 2019 before retuning to Glasgow.
More recently, Football Insider revealed that Rodgers has opened the door to leaving Celtic as no talks have been held over a contract renewal in Scotland.
