Allan Rodrigues de Souza, who was once labelled an ‘outstanding talent’ by Jurgen Klopp, is another player who things didn’t go quite right for in England, but is headed to the Club World Cup with Flamengo.
He was bought by Liverpool in 2015 under Brendan Rogers for £500,000 from Internacional, and seemed to make a good impression on Klopp.
“I saw him in training and I thought ‘oh my god, what can we do to keep this boy here and bring him into the line-up?’ the German manager said.

“He’s 19 years old, an outstanding talent, a good player with a good attitude, everybody loves him, he’s a nice lad - so that’s really, really good.
He’s a smart player.”
However, although he looked sharp in training and Klopp wanted to make him a permanent part of the squad but unfortunately for the Brazilian he was never able to feature for Liverpool due to work permit issues.

He was sent out to a number of clubs in different countries, including Germany, Cyprus and his homeland Brazil with Fluminense.
Allan was sold to Atletico Mineiro in 2020 for £3.2m, generating a £2.7m profit for the Reds, despite not making a single appearance.
He produced impressive performances for them, completing the domestic double in 2021, before making the move to Flamengo in 2023.
Despite interest for the midfielder from his former Brazilian club, he is a core part of Flamengo’s plans, and will be expected to feature in the Club World Cup against ES Tunis, Chelsea and Leon, with their first game on June 17.
Although he is playing in his home country, Allan has previously expressed his desire to rejoin the Reds.
“I hope to return to England or a strong European League.
I want to be recognised in Europe in the same way I am now recognised in Brazil,” he told The Athletic in 2022.

“I have great memories of the club, the supporters and the atmosphere of Anfield on a match day.
It is still a dream and if it was down to me I would return to the club one day.
“It would be a dream come true to win the Champions League or Premier League with Liverpool.
