Liverpool are set to sign a new left-back this summer, with Milos Kerkez the player the Reds have been linked to the most in recent weeks.
The AFC Bournemouth man has been one of the breakout stars in the Premier League this season with Kerkez playing a starring role for the Cherries in their bid to qualify for Europe for the first time in their history.
As a result of the Hungarian international’s form, Liverpool have developed a strong interest in Kerkez, though recent rumours have suggested that the Reds are slowly losing ground in the race to sign the 22-year-old defender.
With Kerkez seemingly the perfect option for Liverpool, missing out on the Bournemouth fullback would be a major blow for Arne Slot’s side, yet the Premier League champions could find a good plan B in a player who was on Chelsea’s books not too long ago.

Diego Moreira is a player not many Liverpool fans will be familiar with despite one being on Chelsea’s books not that long ago, with the 20-year-old making just one appearance for the Blues before being sold to sister club RC Strasbourg last year.
Since making the move to France, though, the Portuguese youth international has flourished into one of the most exciting prospects in Europe, with Moreira operating both as a left-back and a left-sided attacker for Liam Rosenior’s side, who currently sit 7th in Ligue 1.
A product of Benfica’s famed academy, Moreira’s career has been split between playing in defence and in attack, with the youngster’s versatility playing a huge role in the Belgium-born prospect becoming as good as he has this season with Strasbourg.

And with Liverpool in the market for a young fullback as well as an attacker, Moreira could kill two birds with one stone for the Reds this summer, especially if Strasbourg are willing to entertain offers for the fullback in the transfer window.
Chelsea’s newfound reputation of signing youngsters and flipping them off for a profit despite hardly playing them is a worrying trend that could spread throughout football, with the Blues seemingly more interested in making a profit and balancing the accounts rather than developing talent to win trophies.
And if Liverpool opt to move for Moreira in the summer as an alternative for Kerkez, Chelsea’s loss in selling the youngster will be a huge gain for the Reds, who could have their new starting left-back with the right development programme.
Indeed, Moreira has been a star in France this season, and at Liverpool, the Portuguese talent can take his game to new heights developing under Slot and learning from the one of the best fullbacks in the world in Andy Robertson, who will know he is being replaced this summer.
