Tyler Morton, who recently moved out of Liverpool to join French side Olympique Lyonnais, debuted for his new club.

After having an exciting summer in terms of international footballing action, it was certain that the young Merseyside player’s status and value would increase.

The 22-year-old won the U21 Euro Championship with England’s U21 side and was a crucial member of the title-winning team.

However, with a stacked LFC team, it was hard for Morton to find a place in the squad, despite his calibre.

So, the young midfielder parted ways with his childhood club this month as he completed the move to Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais.

After his £15 million move last week, the England U21 international was handed his debut in the first game of the season by manager Jorge Maciel.

Morton played the full 90 minutes as Les Gones defeated RC Lens 0-1.

The former Red impressed everyone with his performance in the middle of the pitch as he orchestrated Lyon’s play.

Morton had 63 touches with a passing accuracy of 76% (32/42), providing one key pass and completing three of eight crosses on his Lyon debut.

Defensively, the English midfielder registered 10 duels with a 50% success rate, three successful tackles, four clearances and two fouls.

He received a 7.4 overall rating (stats via Sofascore).

Tyler has made 14 senior Liverpool appearances since his senior debut in September 2021, whilst also registering an assist.

Although the 22-year-old parted ways with the club that he has been associated with for the last 17 years, there were no hard feelings involved.

In fact, the player shared his heartfelt departure message via Instagram, stating, “…A lot of change in 17 years, but one thing that will never change is my love for the club.

I will always be a Liverpool fan.

You’ll never walk alone.”

Official Liverpool statement, confirming his departure, also echoed the same sentiment: “…Everyone at LFC would like to wish Tyler all the very best for the future.”
