Liverpool’s former treble-winning striker Emile Heskey witnessed a proud parental moment as both his sons made their senior debuts for Manchester City in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup victory over Huddersfield Town.

Reigan, 17, and Jaden, 19, became the first set of brothers to play for City since Kolo and Yaya Touré.

Jaden entered the action with 14 minutes remaining, replacing fellow academy graduate Nico O’Reilly, while Reigan came on shortly after for Savinho.

Jaden, the elder at 19, is described as a “mature, hard-working” box-to-box midfielder by Manchester City’s website who regularly captains City’s Premier League 2 side.

Reigan, at just 17, is characterized as a “tricky, clinical winger” on the City website.

Emile Heskey is remembered by the Kop faithful after his role in Liverpool’s historic 2000-01 treble season.

The striker scored 22 goals in 56 appearances during that remarkable campaign, helping Gerard Houllier’s side claim the FA Cup, UEFA Cup, and League Cup.

His £11 million transfer to Liverpool in March 2000 was a club record fee at the time.

Heskey’s partnership with Michael Owen became one of the most feared strike combinations in European football, thriving for both club and country.

The duo’s understanding was so effective that Heskey started ahead of Robbie Fowler in the 2001 FA Cup Final, which Liverpool won 2-1 against Arsenal.

His four-year spell at Liverpool yielded 60 goals in 223 appearances, along with an impressive trophy haul that included the FA Cup, two League Cups, UEFA Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.

Manager Pep Guardiola spoke about the double debut, saying post-match:

“Today, six players from the academy made the starting XI,” said the Spaniard.

“Two more came on, the Heskey brothers.

That’s really cool.”

Meanwhile, the ex-Liverpool man also spoke about his sons and their playstyles last month.

“They’re similar to me,” Heskey told the Daily Mail in August.

“They are both very athletic.”

“The young one is very quick?

The older one is a bit of a beast like I was.”

“They’ve both got similar attributes.”

Since retiring in 2016, Heskey has transitioned into coaching and development roles, currently serving as Head of Women’s Football Development at Leicester City.
