Ex-Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards has reportedly ruled out the chance to join Chelsea.

Blues co-owner Todd Boehly has been hot on the heels of Edwards ever since he left Merseyside, as he seeks a replacement for ex-transfer chief Marina Granovskaia.

Boehly has been leading Chelsea’s hectic summer of transfer business after appointing himself as interim sporting director.

Edwards, who joined Liverpool in November 2011, is keen to take at least a year away from the game to rest and recharge, it is believed.

It remains to be seen if the club do any further business before the closure of the transfer window on September 1, with the focus now likely to be on outgoings it seems.

Tuchel previously made it clear his side would be able to challenge for the Premier League title if he got all the players he wanted this summer.

According to The Athletic, though, Edwards, who has also worked at Portsmouth and later Tottenham, has turned down the chance to head to Stamford Bridge to work under him.
