Alexander Isak’s potential transfer to Liverpool has dominated headlines over the last month or so.

Nobody expected the Reds to spend as much money as they have on improving their ranks, but due to the number of players they’ve sold, Liverpool still have plenty of leeway in their war chest.
At the moment, it’s clear that Isak and Marc Guehi are the Reds’ main targets before the window slams shut, but with Crystal Palace and Newcastle being stubborn regarding their price tag, nothing has yet come to fruition.

However, with both players clearly wanting to make the move to Anfield, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before moves are made.
Although the Magpies are adamant that Isak won’t be exiting St James’ Park this summer, the fact that he’s still refusing to play for them says otherwise.
While live on ViaPlay Premier Sunday, former Manchester United players Jaap Stam and Peter Schmeichel were asked which club Isak will be playing for by the end of the transfer window, with both saying: “Liverpool.”

Stam then talked about the Reds already having an agreement with Isak.
“You know how it goes, how the conversations are always going, they always talk.”
He was then asked whether there could have been an off-the-record chat between Isak and Liverpool, to which he said: “Yeah, exactly because that happens, agents are talking with club members, and that’s why probably the player is making a certain decision as well.”
At the moment, it’s still unclear whether Liverpool will actually sign Isak this summer.
If they managed to sign someone such as Benjamin Sesko or Joao Pedro to replace him, the transfer of the Sweden international would likely have been completed weeks ago.
However, since they haven’t managed to attract a new number nine to the club yet, they have no desire to sell their star man.
